List of Top Chess Grandmasters in India 2020
FIDE, the world chess organization, awards the chess title Grand Master (GM). For any Chess player, being a Grandmaster is the highest title he/ she can reach. Once a player becomes a chess grandmaster, the title is held for life. The chess grandmaster’s title is open to men and women players, even though women have separate Women grandmasters rankings.
India got her first grandmaster in 1984, and have to wait nearly for a decade to see a spike in the list. But with the availability of high-quality guidance, now more players are following Vishwanad Anand’s legacy. Still, we are way behind in the number of Grandmasters because Chess is indeed originated from our land.
