GATE 2023 Score Calculation
The actual marks of the candidate in GATE 2022 will be calculated out of 100 marks for 65 questions in MCQ format. For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the mark assigned to that particular question shall be deducted.
The GATE score is prepared based on raw marks or normalized marks. The raw marks are used for those papers which are held only in 1 session and normalization of raw marks is done for those subject papers which were held in multiple sessions. By normalizing the GATE raw score, which is out of 100, IITs ensure that no candidate face disadvantage and the level of difficulty in both the sessions can be brought under the same unit.
GATE Scorecard Validity 2023
GATE 2023 scores are valid for three years from the date of result announcement. The score’s validity period runs from March 16, 2023, the date of the GATE Result 2023, through March 16, 2026.
GATE Score vs Marks: Previous Years
Following the exam’s grading policy, GATE marks are calculated out of 100. These are the candidate’s actual, raw exam results. On the other hand, GATE scores are the normalized grades calculated by IIT Kanpur out of 1000. By doing this, we can guarantee that no student will be put at a disadvantage due to the exam difficulty level across days and shifts.
