Join NowIOCL Electrical Engineer Eligibility Criteria 2025 – Age, Qualification
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has clearly defined the eligibility requirements for candidates applying under Advt. No.: IOCL/CO-HR/RECTT/2025/01. Aspirants must meet the educational qualification, age limit, and physical fitness standards as per the notification.
1. Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a full-time BE/B.Tech degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Electrical
- Electrical and Electronics
- Electrical and Electronics (Power System)
- Electrical and Instrumentation
- Electrical and Computer
- Electrical and Power
- Electrical Engineering (Electronics and Power)
- Electrical Instrumentation and Control
- Electrical Power Engineering
- Electrical, Electronics and Power Engineering
- Electronics and Electrical Engineering
Not Eligible:
- Candidates with degrees in disciplines other than the above.
- Those with Mechatronics, Robotics, or other interdisciplinary/integrated degrees (unless BE/B.Tech is in the above-approved branches).
- Qualifications obtained through Part-time, Correspondence, Distance, or Online Learning modes.
Special Note:

Candidates pursuing/completing Dual or Integrated BE/B.Tech + ME/M.Tech programs are eligible only if their BE/B.Tech is in one of the valid disciplines.

For dual degree (two separate degrees), only BE/B.Tech marks will be considered.

For integrated degree (single ME/M.Tech award), overall percentage/CGPA of the entire program will be considered.

- Final degree/mark sheet must be available by 31st October 2025.
- For candidates with grades (CGPA/SGPA), the conversion to percentage must be supported by a certificate from their Institute/University. If no formula exists, IOCL may apply its own conversion method.
Important: 59.99% will not be rounded off to 60%.
2. Age Limit (as on 01st July 2025)
The upper age limit is 26 years for General and EWS candidates. Relaxations apply as per Govt. of India rules:

Proof of age will only be accepted through the Matriculation / Higher Secondary certificate issued by a recognized education board.
3. Physical Fitness
Final selection and joining is subject to candidates meeting Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) Guidelines of IOCL.
- Candidates must ensure they meet all physical fitness standards before applying.
- Guidelines are available under ‘Latest Job Opening’ → ‘IndianOil for Careers’ on www.iocl.com.
- All medical reports, in the prescribed format, must be submitted at the time of joining (if selected).
IOCL Electrical Engineer Selection Process 2025
The selection of candidates will be through a three-stage process:
- Computer Based Test (CBT) – Objective multiple-choice questions assessing domain knowledge and aptitude.
- Group Discussion (GD) & Group Task (GT) – To evaluate communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Personal Interview (PI) – Assessing overall suitability, technical knowledge, and soft skills.
Shortlisting for GD, GT, and PI will be based on CBT marks. Final merit will consider CBT, GD/GT, and PI scores as per the prescribed weightage.

Join NowIOCL Recruitment 2025 – Reservation & Category-wise Guidelines
1. Reservation Overview
IOCL provides reservation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, EWS, and PwBD candidates as per Government of India directives. Candidates must have valid certificates supporting their claim for reservation. Any false or incorrect submission may lead to cancellation of candidature or termination of services.
2. Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) Reservation
- Candidate’s caste/tribe must appear in the Central List of SC/ST for their state.
- Certificates must include date of issue, certificate number, and caste/tribe name exactly as in the central list.
- SC/ST candidates from Maharashtra must have a valid Caste Validity Certificate.
- Certificates should be issued by the Competent Authority in the latest prescribed format.
3. Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer – OBC-NCL) Reservation
- Candidates must have an OBC(NCL) certificate issued in the latest prescribed format for appointment in Government of India/PSUs.
- Name of caste must match the Central List of OBCs for the state.
- Candidates in the “Creamy Layer” are not eligible for OBC(NCL) benefits and must apply under General category.
- OBC(NCL) certificate should be issued on or after 01.04.2025.
- OBC(NCL) candidates from Maharashtra require a Caste Validity Certificate.
- Candidates must provide a self-undertaking during the Personal Interview confirming non-creamy layer status.
4. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Reservation
- Income and Asset Certificate should be valid for FY 2025–26, based on FY 2024–25 verification.
- Caste name must be clearly mentioned; terms like “General/Samanya” are not acceptable.
- Certificate must be issued by the Competent Authority in the latest prescribed format.
- Certificate should be issued on or after 01.04.2025 and include the candidate’s photograph, signature, and stamp of issuing authority.
5. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) Reservation
- Must have permanent disability with minimum 40% severity.
- PwBD certificate must follow Form V/VI/VII as per RPwBD Rules, 2017.
- Candidate must possess a Unique Disability ID (UDID) card.
- Categories include:
