The selection process for IOCL Electrical Engineer 2025 comprises three main stages:
1. Computer Based Test (CBT):
The CBT consists of 100 objective multiple-choice questions, divided as:
Section | Topics | No. of Questions |
---|---|---|
A | Domain Knowledge | 50 |
B | Quantitative Aptitude | 20 |
B | Logical Reasoning | 15 |
B | Verbal Ability (English) | 15 |
- Each question carries 1 mark, with 0.25 marks deducted for wrong answers.
- Duration of the test is 150 minutes, with 20 minutes per hour compensatory time for PwBD candidates using a scribe.
- PwBD candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy can bring their own scribe at personal cost. The scribe should have a qualification one step below the candidate.
- Use of scribe requires a certificate from a government medical authority or submission of a prescribed Letter of Undertaking if using their own scribe. Templates are available on the IOCL Careers page.
- If the CBT is conducted in multiple sessions, scores will be normalized across sessions to account for difficulty differences.
Candidates are shortlisted for GD, GT, and PI based on descending order of CBT marks, and final selection considers performance across all stages.
2. Group Discussion (GD) & Group Task (GT)
Shortlisted candidates from the CBT will participate in group activities to evaluate communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
3. Personal Interview (PI)
The final stage involves a personal interview to assess the candidate’s overall suitability, technical knowledge, and personality traits for the role.
IOCL Electrical Engineer 2025 Shortlisting Process
Shortlisting for the next stages of selection—Group Discussion (GD), Group Task (GT), and Personal Interview (PI)—is based on CBT performance:
- Candidates are arranged in descending order of CBT marks (out of 100) for their respective domain.
- Qualifying in CBT alone does not guarantee shortlisting for GD, GT, and PI.
- Minimum qualifying marks in CBT by category:
Category | Section A & B Minimum | Overall Minimum (A+B) |
---|---|---|
General / EWS / OBC-NCL | 40% | 45% |
SC / ST | 35% | 40% |
PwBD | 25% | 30% |
Candidates meeting these criteria will be considered for the subsequent stages of selection.
