Here’s the Eligibility Criteria for the Kerala PSC HSA Social Science Recruitment 2025

Candidates aspiring for the post of High School Assistant (Social Science) in Kerala Government Service must meet the following eligibility requirements as per the official notification (Category No: 24/2025):

1. Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 years

• Maximum Age: 40 years

• Date of Birth Range: Must be born between 02.01.1985 and 01.01.2007 (both dates inclusive).

• Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST candidates: Eligible for relaxation up to 5 years.

  • OBC candidates: Eligible for relaxation up to 3 years.

  • Maximum age limit including all relaxations: 50 years.

2. Educational Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy all of the following:

(a) Academic Qualification

A Degree in any one of the following disciplines from any recognized university in Kerala (or an equivalent qualification recognized by Kerala PSC):

• History
• Economics
• Geography
• Politics
• Philosophy
• Sociology
• Commerce
• Music

*Note: Commerce and Music degrees are accepted only if the B.Ed. was obtained before 21.09.2022.

(b) Professional Qualification

• B.Ed./B.T. in the concerned subject (Social Science or Social Studies) from a recognized institution.

(c) Language Requirement

• The candidate must have passed the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) Category III, conducted by the Kerala Government.

3. Exemptions from K-TET Category III

Candidates possessing any of the following qualifications are exempted from producing a K-TET certificate:

• C-TET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) – only for Upper Primary/Secondary level.

  Note: C-TET for Primary or Elementary level is not accepted.

• NET (National Eligibility Test)
• SET (State Eligibility Test)
• M.Ed. (Master of Education)
• M.Phil.
• Ph.D.

4. Accepted Equivalent Qualifications

As per Government Orders and Kerala PSC norms, the following are also considered valid:

• Diploma in Rural Service awarded by the National Council for Rural Higher Education.
• B.A. Ed. (Social Studies) awarded by the Regional Institute of Education, Mysore.
• B.A. with Islamic History as main subject and B.Ed. in History or Social Studies (subject to Kerala PSC approval).
• Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject (e.g., History, Economics, Politics) with B.Ed./B.T.

5. Other Important Points

• The written examination (if conducted) will be in Malayalam, and candidates must write their answers in Malayalam.
• Equivalent or higher qualifications declared as such by the Kerala Public Service Commission before the final date of application submission will also be considered valid.
• Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules (K.S. & S.S.R.) will be applicable to determine equivalent qualifications
