The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has set specific eligibility criteria for the post of High School Assistant (HSA) Hindi. Candidates must meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and training qualifications to apply for the position. Below are the detailed eligibility conditions:

Method of Appointment
- Direct Recruitment
Age Limit
- Candidates must be between 18 to 40 years.
- Only those born between 02.01.1984 and 01.01.2006 (both dates included) are eligible to apply.
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST Candidates & Other Backward Communities (OBCs) are eligible for usual age relaxation as per government norms.
- The maximum age limit shall not exceed 50 years, even after applying relaxation benefits.
- For specific concessions in the upper age limit, refer to Para (2) of the General Conditions under Part II of the Notification.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess one of the following academic qualifications:
Academic Qualification
- A Degree in Hindi conferred or recognized by any University in Kerala.
- A title of Oriental Learning in Hindi awarded or recognized by any University in Kerala (if the title is declared equivalent to Part III of a Degree).
- Praveen from Dakshina Bharatha Hindi Prachara Sabha, Madras, along with a pass in SSLC or equivalent.
- Sahithyacharya from Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha, with a pass in SSLC or equivalent.
Training Qualification
Candidates must also possess one of the following training qualifications:
- B.Ed / B.T / L.T. in Hindi conferred or recognized by Universities in Kerala.
- Diploma or Certificate of Language Teachers Training in Hindi issued by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala.
- Diploma in Hindi Teachers Training issued by the Commissioner for Government Examinations, Kerala.
- A pass in any of the following examinations conducted by Kendriya Hindi Sikshan Mandal, Agra:
- Hindi Sikshan Praveen
- Hindi Sikshan Parangath
- Hindi Sikshan Nishnat
- Acharya Title of Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha OR Siksha Snathak Title of Dakshina Bharatha Hindi Prachara Sabha.
- B.Ed. from Dakshina Bharatha Hindi Prachara Sabha (considered as an alternative training qualification, as per G.O(P) No.331/90/P&ARD dated 2.11.1990).
Note:
- Degrees/Diplomas from UGC-approved Universities or Institutions established through State or Central Legislative Acts are acceptable.
- Postgraduates in Hindi can apply, provided they have B.Ed/B.T/L.T in Hindi.
- B.Ed. must be in Hindi for eligibility.
Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) Requirement
- Candidates must have passed the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) Category III conducted by the Government of Kerala.
Exemption from K-TET:
Candidates are exempted from acquiring K-TET if they possess any of the following:
- CTET / NET / SET / M.Phil / Ph.D. in Hindi
- M.Ed. in any subject
- CTET (Primary & Elementary Stage) is NOT considered an alternative qualification for K-TET Category III as per G.O(P) No.6/2024/G.Edn dated 01.02.2024.
Special Concessions in Appointment & Age Limit
(i) Preference for Wives of Jawans
- Wives of Jawans (active service soldiers & Base Establishment employees) will get preference in recruitment as per:
- G.O.(MS) No. 50/70/PD dated 12.02.1970
- G.O. (MS) No. 9/78/G.Edn. dated 21.01.1978
- Candidates must submit a certificate from the Commanding Officer with details of the husband’s name, military rank, and address.
(ii) Age Relaxation for Laboratory Attenders
- Laboratory Attenders in Departmental High Schools with at least 5 years of service will be exempted from the age limit.
- A certificate from the Headmaster verifying service duration is required.
- Note: This exemption applies only to open competition vacancies.
(iii) Preference for First-Class Scouts & Guides
- Candidates with First-Class Scouts & Guides certificates will be given preference in appointment.
- Based on G.O.(MS) No.122/75/G.Edn. dated 27.05.1975 and G.O.(MS) No.50/70/PD dated 12.02.1970.
(iv) Age Relaxation for Government Primary/Nursery School Teachers
- Government Primary & Nursery School Teachers who are graduates and meet other qualifications are exempted from the upper age limit.
- Relevant Government Orders:
- G.O.(MS) No.185/70/Edn. dated 18.04.1970
- G.O.(MS) No.466/70/Edn dated 11.11.1970
- Candidates must provide a certificate from the concerned authority.
Important Notes:
- Candidates eligible for age relaxation, preference, or concessions must claim them in the “Weightage and Preferences” section in their One-Time Registration Profile.
- Failure to claim exemptions may lead to disqualification.
- The upper age limit after applying relaxations cannot exceed 50 years.
