The National Eligibility Test conducted on behalf of the University Grants Commission is a qualifying exam for eligible candidates for getting a job as Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellow or both in UGC-recognized universities and colleges across India. The exam was previously conducted by CBSE. After 2018, National Testing Agency took over the responsibility of conducting the NET exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission. UGC NET 2022 Selection Process
UGC NET exam conducted by National Testing Agency is a qualifying exam. The exam is conducted to find out the eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellow for UGC-recognized universities and colleges. The National Testing Agency took over the responsibility of conducting the exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission after the year 2018. UGC NET exam is conducted as an entrance exam. It is a single-tier exam. The exam consists of two papers. Paper 1 and 2. Paper 1 consists of 50 questions and it carries 100 marks. Paper 2 consists of 100 questions and it carries 200 marks. For each correct answer, the candidate will get 2 marks. There will be no negative marks for incorrect answers. After qualifying for the exam the candidates will get an eligibility certificate and they can apply to the preferred institutions.

UGC NET 2022 Exam Selection Procedure
UGC NET exam is a qualifying exam where the candidate who qualifies for the exam will get an eligibility certificate. There is no preliminary or main classification for the UGC NET exam. The exam is conducted as a single tier. The exam consists of two papers and there is no break in between two papers. The selection procedure for UGC NET 2022 exam is as follows:
Step 1: Fill out the application
UGC NET exam application will be published twice a year on the official website. The application for June and December. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria by UGC can apply for the exam.
Step 2: Fee Payment
After the successful completion of the application, the next step is the payment of fees. Fees for different categories will be available in the official notification.
Step 3: Appear for Exam
After the submission of the application and payment of fees candidates will provide the hall ticket for the examination. Candidates should download it and appear for the exam.
Step 4: Qualify UGC NET exam
The candidates who get a certain percentage of marks prescribed by the commission will qualify for lectureship. The aggregate marks needed for the general category for both papers is 40%. For OBC and other reserved categories, it is 35%.
Step 5: UGC NET Selection criteria
After the qualification of the exam, the candidate’s lectureship is based on the criteria set by UGC. only 6% of candidates who appeared will qualify for the exam and become an assistant professors. A category-wise reservation policy is applicable for these candidates. In the case of the Junior Research Fellowship, it is 1% of the total candidates appeared for both papers.

UGC NET Exam 2022 Allotment
The UGC set some guidelines for the selection of candidates for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellow. Only 6% of the total candidates who appeared for both papers will be qualified for Assistant Professor and there will be a category-wise reservation and Junior Research Fellow, there will be 1% of the total candidates who appeared for both the papers.
