The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has taken a decision to postpone the Civil Services Examination (CSE) preliminary exam. The UPSC has earlier scheduled the CSE Prelims to March 31, 2020. Due to the recent pandemic terror, the UPSC has taken a decision to postpone the civil services preliminary exam “until further notice”. After reviewing the COVID-19 lockdown situation and restrictions in the country the commission decided that it will be impossible to resume the examinations for the time being. UPSC will have another meeting on May 20, 2020, to assess the fresh situations and the commission may announce the new exam dates after that meeting. Since UPSC uses the same preliminary examination to screen candidates for the Indian Forest Services, that exam too differs from the schedules to accommodate the new changes. Along with the UPSE CSE 2020, UPSC also postpones the following exams/ interviews:
- Personality test for remaining candidates for the Civil Services Examination, 2019;
- Notification for the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2020;
- Notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2020;
- Notification for the Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2020 and
- The NDA and Naval Academy Examination, 2020.
Its is expecting that UPSC will reschedule the exams for July 2020 or later.
