UPSC ESE Eligibility Criteria 2021
The candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form for the Engineering Service Examination 2022. The eligibility criteria consist of the educational details and the age limit that the candidates must possess before applying for the recruitment. Given below is the information regarding the eligibility criteria for this recruitment.
- The applicant must be above the age of 21 years.
- The applicant must be below the age of 30 years.
- The applicant must follow the following educational qualifications-
- B.E/B.Tech from a Recognised University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
- Should have cleared section A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
- Qualified in Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) or
- Qualified in Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
- Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959
- The applicant must follow the following Nationality qualifications
- Candidate must be a citizen of India/Subjects of Bhutan & Nepal/Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1 January 1962/Person of India origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
Age Relaxations
The candidates belonging to certain categories will also be provided exemptions in the age criteria presented by the authorities of the Union Public Service Commission. Given below are the details regarding the age relaxations available to the different candidates belonging to the different categories but you will also have to produce documents related to your category in order to get relaxations.
- Up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
- Up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
- Up to a maximum of three years, in the case of Defence Services personnel.
- Up to a maximum of five years in the case of Ex‐servicemen including Commissioned Officers and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs) / Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs), who have rendered at least five years Military Service as of 1st January 2022 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due) to be completed within one year from 1st January 2022 otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or (iii) on invalid.
- Up to a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/ SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as of 1st January 2022 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on three months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of an offer of appointment.
- Up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of candidates belonging to Person with Benchmark Disability viz. Low vision, deaf and Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability including Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims and Muscular Dystrophy.
