Duties and Responsibilities of a Billing Engineer

1. Preparation of Client and Contractor Bills

• Prepare RA (Running Account) bills for clients.

• Create subcontractor bills based on site progress and work orders.

• Use measurement books (MB) to validate quantities.

2. Estimation and Cost Control

• Estimate quantities and costs based on drawings and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).

• Coordinate with quantity surveyors to keep estimates updated.

3. Verification and Certification

• Cross-check site measurements with actual work done.

• Liaise with site engineers and project managers for accurate verification.

4. Rate Analysis

• Assist in analysing item rates based on material, labour, and overhead costs.

• Apply rates as per DSR (Delhi Schedule of Rates) or client-specific pricing.

5. Contract Management

• Interpret tender documents and ensure compliance with contract clauses.

• Handle contract billing and claims if applicable.

6. Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly billing records.

• Generate MIS reports for management.

• Prepare bar bending schedules (BBS), measurement sheets, etc.

7. Coordination

• Act as a point of communication between client, contractor, site, and accounts.

• Ensure timely submission and clearance of bills.
