Educational Qualification

• For Assistant Engineer (Mechanical)- A Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from any UGC recognized University or Institute, (A.I.C.T.E.Approved).
• Assistant Engineer (Civil)- A Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering from any UGC recognized University or Institute, (A.I.C.T.E.Approved).
• Assistant Engineer (Electrical)- A Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering from any UGC recognized University or Institute, (A.I.C.T.E.Approved).

BPSC Assistant Engineer Salary

Assistant Engineers in various Bihar state departments are hired either through open written test or via promotions. 62% of posts of Assistant Engineer (basic grade) of the service shall be filled up by the written test conducted by the Commission through direct recruitment. 10% post of Assistant Engineer (basic grade) of the Service shall be filled up by promotion from Junior Engineers who have completed 5 years of regular Service and who possess engineering degree. The remaining 28% post shall be filled up from junior Engineer holding a Diploma degree. The period of probation for Assistant Engineers in Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) shall be for two years. After 4 years of service, and after confirmation they will be promoted to the Pay Band-3, with the same Grade Pay of Rs. 5400.

In Bihar PSC, the Assistant Engineers will be posted in the Pay Band-2 with Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/. The base pay would be combined with an incentive pay component which will be annual performance-linked. The compensation has been divided into monthly pay and annual pay. The salary structure for the BPSC Assistant Engineer should be as  follows

• Basic Pay
• Provident Fund (PF)
• House Rent Allowance (HRA): 20% of Basic Pay for positions based in the state capital (Patna), and 15% for the district and block-level positions.
• Performance linked Incentive:  Maximum of 15% depending upon the performance as measured by the Appraisal System. This should be calculated once a year.
• Organisational Allowances based on the Department in which you are appointing:

1.  Medical Allowances (To meet employee’s (including family) regular medical expenses)
2. Conveyance Allowances (To facilitate conveyance at the station where the employee is Positioned)
3. Child Education (To cover the cost of tuition fees of employee‟s children Allowance)
4. Communication (Mobile phone and other communication costs – to Allowance facilitate smoother communication across all levels)
