During 1962, the Indo-China war, to maintain the transportation of men and materials to the Army, Indian Railways worked in full swing. To aid this 08 Battalions were created from the existing workforce of Railway Protection Force, RPF’s Armed Wing. The officers volunteering themselves from the RPF joined the newly formed battalions and thus called the “Special emergency Force” which subsequently named the Indian  Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Today the Railway Protection Special Force or the RPSF is fully trained, better equipped, well organized, and readily available in reserve in Indian Railways. Indian Railway hires suitable candidates for the RPSF through countrywide open recruitment. One can join the service either as the Constable or as the Sub-Inspector through these recruitments. RPSF SI Posts List 2022

With a sanctioned strength of 9000 personnel today the Railway Protection Special Force plays a vital role among the Central Uniform services. With 12 battalions across India, the force is growing each succeeding year. Each of these battalions has 6 coys: 01 headquarters and 05 operations. Periodically Indian Railways conducts a three-stage recruitment process for the graduates to join both the Railway Protection Force and the Railway Protection Special Force. While filling up the application, candidates will get the chance to apply against the vacancy of either a Group of Zonal Railway or Railway Protection Special Force, RPSF. Candidates opting for RPSF services will have to serve in RPSF only, till they are promoted to any of the gazetted rank positions in Railways. Railways held the  Computer Based Test (CBT) simultaneously for both RPSF and  Zonal Railways.

One can join the RPSF either as Constable or as a Sub-Inspector through these recruitment exams. There are other options to join the RPSF through the UPSC Civil Service Exams, Zonal based special recruitments, etc. The RPSF SI Posts Lists is suitable for both Male and Female Candidates. The Ex-Servicemen will also get entitled to a 10% reservation in this recruitment.

RPSF SI Posts Details

Since the RSPF SI 2022 official notification is yet to be available, the below-given details are based on the last recruitment notification which is published in 2018.

• RPSF SI Eligibility Criteria: Candidates should have completed graduation in any stream from any UGC recognized university and should be below 25 years as of the last date of online application. Candidates should also possess the below given physical measurements:

• Selection Process: 

This particular posts selection procedure has four-stage of screening:

• Computer Based Test (CBT)
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
• Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and
• Document Verification (DV)

Apart from the CBT, all other stages in RPSF SI Selection Process are of qualifying nature only.

• RPSF SI Salary Scale: The Sub-Inspectors in the Railway Protection Special Force is entitled to the Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission’s pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs. 35,400/– plus other allowances.
