In December 1945, officials of Brazil and China proposed the creation of an international health organization, that is all-encompassing and absolutely independent from any government powers. In July 1946, the constitution of the World Health Organization was approved and the World Health Organization (WHO) was set up in 1948 to coordinate health affairs within the United Nations member nations. WHO’s Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948, and this day is celebrated as the World Health Day across the UN member nations. World Health Day was first observed on July 22, 1949 but the Assembly later decided to celebrate it on 7th April of each year, with effect from 1950. The World Health Day is held to mark WHO’s founding. The organization uses this day to draw worldwide attention to a subject of major importance regarding global health each year. World Health Day is one of 11 official global health campaigns marked by WHO.

World Health Day Celebration 2024
On this day the World Health Organization as well other health organizations design programs to create awareness about different aspects of health. These are highlighted in schools, seminars, workshops, and discussion forums. You can do your bit in the following ways:
