About UPSC Exam
The UPSC exam, or the Union Public Service Commission exam, is a competitive examination conducted by the UPSC, for recruiting candidates for various civil services of the Indian government, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Group A and Group B services. It consists of three stages: the Preliminary examination (objective type), the Main examination (written), and the Personality Test (interview).
UPSC Prelims Exam 2024
The first stage of the UPSC Examination consists of two papers:
- General Studies Paper I: Test the candidate’s knowledge of current events, the history of India and the Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, Climate Change, and General Science.
- General Studies Paper II (CSAT): Analyze interpersonal skills, including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem-solving, general mental ability, basic numeracy, and English language comprehension skills.
Only those candidates who qualify for the Prelims are eligible to appear for the Main examination.
UPSC Mains Exam 2024
The UPSC mains exam 2024 consists of a series of written papers covering a wide range of subjects, including essay writing, general studies, and optional subjects chosen by the candidates. It is designed to assess a candidate’s in-depth knowledge, analytical ability, and writing skills. Successful candidates from the main exam are then called for the final stage, which includes a personality test (interview).
UPSC Interview 2024

UPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024
The UPSC Mains exam pattern includes 9 papers that are conducted over a period of 5-7 days. All of the papers in the UPSC Mains consist of descriptive answer-type questions. To be eligible for the Mains Examination, candidates must secure at least the declared cut-off in General Studies I and score 33% or higher in General Studies II during the Prelims stage.
