Paper I Exam Pattern
- There are 120 questions in total, with a total score of 250.
- It is possible to use negative marking.
- If a candidate provides two or more answers, they will be marked incorrectly, and negative marking will be applied even if one of the options is correct.
- There are no deductions for unanswered questions.

Paper II Exam Pattern
- The total number of questions is 120, with 40 from each of the previously mentioned sections.
- The examination has a total of 250 marks available.
- The Commission has set a time limit of two hours for UPSC CMS.
- Negative Marking is an option.
- Similarly to paper I, if a candidate provides two or more answers, it will be considered incorrect, and negative marking will apply even if one of the options is correct.
- There are no deductions for unanswered questions.

Exam Pattern of Personality Test
- Candidates who pass the Part I CBT examination are eligible to take the Part II examination.
- Part II of the examination is the Personality Test.
- UPSC officials will take a Personality/Interview Test worth 100 points.
- The computer-based examination will be set to test the candidate’s general knowledge and academic field of study, as well as the officials’ ability to test the candidate’s leadership and other important skills.
