The GATE computer science exam is usually held in the first or second week of February, and the GATE score is valid for 3 years.The official GATE 2025 Exam notification is yet to be released. The GATE exam has 65 questions, out of which 10 are general qualifications and 55 are core subject questions. The duration of the test is 3 hours.
There are three types of questions that come into the GATE exam:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

Negative Marking | For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ. |
