About the Role

The Finance team within Goldman Sachs’ Asset & Wealth Management Division works closely with senior management on projects related to the division’s growth and profitability. The team also collaborates with the leadership of AWM’s business units on financial issues and strategic initiatives.

The work is primarily project-based, with projects generally lasting from a few days to several months. The Finance Analyst will participate actively in these projects, build knowledge of data and financial systems, develop an understanding of the operating infrastructure, establish relationships across the business and communicate findings effectively.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate may work on the following types of projects and analyses:

• Preparing presentations on AWM’s financial performance, strategy, risk management and product performance for the Goldman Sachs Board.
• Benchmarking operating results against key industry competitors.
• Conducting marginal profitability analysis to support the pricing of new mandates.
• Preparing regular reports and analysing fully allocated profitability by business.
• Supporting profit-and-loss forecasting for current and future years, including the firmwide budgeting process.
• Conducting financial analysis of Growth Markets expansion initiatives.
• Supporting compensation strategy and analysis.
• Tracking and analysing sales and productivity.
• Actively managing AWM’s expense policy and savings initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Preferred Qualifications

Goldman Sachs lists the following preferred qualifications for the role:

• Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Chartered Accountant qualification.
• 0–2 years of work experience.
• Exposure to and working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, including Qlik, Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx.
• Ability to use Business Intelligence tools to create workflows and visualisations.
• A computer science background or programming experience is an advantage.
• Experience working with large datasets and technology.
• Exposure to the Asset Management, Management Consulting or Investment Banking industries is an advantage.
