IAS Salary 2020: After 7th Pay Commission
The basic pay of entry-level IAS officers is Rs. 56100. Along with the basic pay, they will be entitled to allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Travel Allowance (TA). The salary will increase as the service increases. The pay for the Cabinet Secretary is fixed at Rs.2,50,000. The gross salary for the civil servants will be a sum of basic pay and allowances, i.e, Total Salary = Basic Pay + DA + HRA + TA. The House Rent Allowance would be 8 -24% of Basic Salary. If you are getting official accommodation, you are not eligible for the HRA allowances. Dearness Allowance would start from 0% after 7th pay commission recommendation. Dearness Allowance would be linked to inflation. The DA had touched 107% of Basic Salary of government officers in 2015. For most of them, the Dearness Allowance (DA) is in between 106% to 109% of basic pay. Dearness Allowance is revised on a half-yearly basis (January and July every year) depending on the inflation index (CPI). The officers will also get the Travel Allowances, Telephone Bill Allowances and if you are posted in a dangerous zone you may get security guards too.
