Introduction

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is hiring interns for a Software Development and Testing role in Bangalore, India. The position is aimed at engineering students with strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, and LaTeX, and an interest in automation, testing, and CI/CD workflows in the wind energy domain.

Role Overview

This internship is part of the Loads and Controls Engineering Department within Siemens Gamesa’s Technology organization. Interns will support programming, tool validation, documentation, and collaboration with engineers working on control technologies for next-generation wind turbines.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will:

• Assist in designing and programming functions in MATLAB and Python for automated reporting and controller validation workflows.
• Support testing and validation of new and existing software tools to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers to debug and enhance tool performance based on user feedback and project requirements.
• Implement and improve automated build, test, and CI/CD procedures (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) for efficient software delivery.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation for developed tools, including user guides and development notes.
• Support the creation of data analysis reports and technical presentations for engineering reviews.
• Help prepare controller certification documents.

Eligibility & Requirements

The role is open to students currently pursuing relevant engineering degrees, with an emphasis on programming and software engineering fundamentals.

• Education:
  • Currently pursuing B.Tech (3rd/4th year) or M.Tech (1st year) in:
    • Control & Automation
    • Mechanical
    • Electrical
    • Electronics
    • Or a related engineering discipline
• Experience:
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Academic or personal project experience in relevant programming languages is highly valued.
• Technical Skills:
  • Good proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and LaTeX
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Knowledge of Software Testing concepts
  • Familiarity with Version Control Systems (e.g., Git; Mercurial mentioned as an example)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory)
  • Experience with agile tools like Jira is a plus
