Karnataka Public Service Commission conducts the recruitment examination for the selection of eligible candidates for various positions through the recruitment examination every year. Karnataka PSC Exam Analysis 2021

Karnataka PSC examinations are very much anticipated by many aspirants and it is one of the best opportunities for every government job aspirant. The examination conducted by Karnataka PSC follows a specific pattern and exam syllabus. For a candidate who is familiar with the examination syllabus and the type of questions asked, the examination will be of less difficulty, Here are the details and the, marking pattern that is followed by the Karnataka PSC in their examinations.

Karnataka Public Service Commission follows certain examination patterns for the recruitment examinations. The examination is conducted in various stages and the three stages of the KPSC examination are given below.

  • Preliminary examination
  • Mains examination
  • Interview

Preliminary Examination

The first stage of the recruitment examination is a preliminary examination and this is of qualifying in nature. The examination will be objective type.

  • The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers.
  • Negative markings are present in the examination such that 0.25 marks are deducted forever incorrect answers.

Paper I- (100 MCQs of 2 marks each) General Studies (National and International) 40
Humanities (Indian Constitution, History and Geography of India and Karnataka, Economy) 60
Paper-II- (100 MCQs of 2 marks each) General Studies (State) 40
Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology 30
General Mental Ability (Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Problem Solving, Data Interpretation)- 10th Standard level 30

This stage of the examination is qualifying in nature. Candidates who fail to score certain cut off in the preliminary round of the Karnataka PSC examination will not be allowed to attend the mains examination and the further recruitment stages.

Mains Examination

The main examination is the second stage of the recruitment examination. This examination is descriptive in nature. The marks obtained by the candidates in this round will be taken for finalizing the result.

  • The written test consists of question papers of descriptive type out of which the qualifying structure of only one paper.
  • Upon clearing the Mains examination with the specific cut-off mark requirements, the candidates are called for a personal interview by the commission.
  • Each paper will be of 3 hours of total time.
  • The medium of the question paper will be English. However, the respective language papers will be released in the testing languages.
  • The KPSC Mains has a total of 9 papers in which 2 qualifying papers, 4 general papers, and 2 optional papers.
  • The total marks are about 1750.

The seven papers counted for ultimate merit are the following:-

  • Essay
  • General Studies 1,2,3,4
  • Optional papers 1 and 2

Personal Interview

Most of the PSC examination conducted under KPSC has a personal interview round before publishing the final rank list. The candidates who are eligible for the interview round will be asked to present the required documents and proofs before the commission at the time of the personal interview round. Most of the questions asked during the interview are from current affairs or general events of national or international importance. The purpose is to judge the knowledge and interest of the candidates in the current state of the country as well as their alertness and critical thinking abilities.
