Each KTET category has a different syllabus based on the teaching level and subject. KTET (Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test) is a state-level exam conducted by Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Kerala’s government and aided schools. It is held in four categories based on different teaching levels—from lower primary to high school and specialist teachers. Qualifying KTET is mandatory to apply for teaching jobs in the state.
For teaching Upper Primary classes (Class VI–VIII)
Eligibility: Graduation + D.El.Ed / B.Ed.
KTET 2026 Category 3
For teaching High School classes (Class IX–X)
Eligibility: Graduation + B.Ed. in relevant subject
KTET 2026 Category 4
For Language teachers (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu), Art, Physical Education, and special school teachers
Eligibility: Qualifications as per Kerala Education rules for specialist posts
