Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a popular entrance test, opening opportunities for pursuing higher studies in various IITs. NIITs, IIMs, and IISc and jobs in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The postgraduation for engineering as well science streams can be tailed by cracking GATE. Lakhs of candidates apply and attend this annual examination scheduled for February 5 to 6 and 12 to14, 2022. The latest notification for the GATE 2022 examinations is out. The dates for the exam were released by the conducting authority for 2022 – IIT Kharagpur. So, it is very important to start preparation soon to excel in the competition. How To Prepare for Gate 2022 Exam? The exam date announced may have to make candidates on their toes. So, here are the Gate exam preparation tips. The Gate 2022 preparation strategy for the Gate 2022, the exam includes primarily completion of syllabus and practice of maximum mock tests. Syllabus for the General Aptitude (GA) Section

This section consists of 10 questions, with 5 questions carry one mark and the rest five will carry two marks each. Thus, the total marks will be 15.

  • Verbal Aptitude

Basic English grammar portions including tenses, articles, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, verb-noun agreement, and other parts of speech Basic vocabulary: words, idioms, and phrases in context, Reading and comprehension Narrative sequencing

  • Quantitative Aptitude

Data interpretation: data graphs (bar graphs, pie charts, and other graphs representing data), 2- and 3-dimensional plots, maps, and tables Numerical computation and estimation: ratios, percentages, powers, exponents, and logarithms, permutations and combinations, and series. Mensuration and geometry Elementary statistics and probability, Analytical Aptitude

  • Logic – deduction and induction, Analogy, Numerical relations, and reasoning

Spatial Aptitude – Transformation of shapes: translation, rotation, scaling, mirroring, assembling, and grouping Paper folding, cutting, and patterns in 2 and 3 dimensions

Proper Schedule of Topics

To track Gate 2022 preparation, it is essential to make a study plan. The proper study plan, covering all the topics, mock tests’ schedules, and revisions will make wise use of time. Wisely utilize the 7 months available.

Self-Preparation vs Coaching

Decide the strategy. A large number of online Gate coaching platforms are available. The classes will be provided for streams depending on the app. Candidates should analyze the courses, number of mock tests, mentors, etc. before subscribing to a particular course. And, if you are confident enough, go for self-preparations. And the decision should be made in no time. As portions will be covered within the stipulated time in coaching platforms and you may lag if delayed.

Strict following of Schedule

The study plan should be followed without skipping topics. Consistently follow, to cover portions on time. And practice the mock tests too on the planned day.

  • For the first type of MCQs – One mark for each correct answer; 1/3 mark deducted for every wrong answer
  • For the second type of MCQs – Two marks for each correct answer; 2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response
  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) – No negative marking for questions

Don’t Compromise with Revision

Revise, revise the portions. Never miss the revisions. Make your own notes, while preparation of each topic and then, use these for revision. Then practice mock tests of each topi, repeatedly.

Keep Out the Stress

No need to stress yourselves. Put your effort at the maximum, and relax. A stress-free mind can only revise points, in the exam hall. Stay calm!

Mock tests – Negative Marking Savvy

Practice as many mock tests as possible-full-length, topic wise-short tests. Also, aptitude should not be neglected – 15 marks are sometimes scoring portions!!
