The RRB NTPC is divided into two categories-Graduate Level and Under graduate level posts. RRB NTPC 2024 Selection Process

Online application available through the link on the official websites is common for all the notified posts released by RRB. Selection is made strictly as per merit on the basis of below mentioned selection process.
The recruitment process shall involve-
- 1st Stage Computer Based Test.
- 2nd Stage Computer Based Test.
- Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable).
- Document Verification/Medical Examination.
1st Stage Computer Based Test(Prelims)
The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices and this test will be common for all the posts notified by RRB. The syllabus for both Prelims and Mains will be same except for number of questions and marking schemes will be different. Tabulated below is the exam pattern-

NB:- Exam Duration for eligible PwBD candidate accompanied with Scribe will be 120 minutes. Also there shall be negative marking of 1/3rd marks for each incorrect answer . For short listing candidates for 2nd Stage CBT normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used as per their merit.

2nd Stage Computer Based Test
The syllabus for 2nd stage CBT is same as 1st stage. Time duration for this stage is also 90 minutes. For each incorrect answer 1/3 marks shall be deducted. 2nd Stage CBT will be different for different posts as per their 7th CPC Level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. All posts coming under same level of 7th CPC will have a common 2nd stage CBT. Also the difficulty level of the paper depends upon the level.

Computer Based Aptitude Test
Those candidates who qualified the 2nd stage CBT and has opted for the post of Traffic Assistant(TA) and Station Master(SM) will have Computer Based Aptitude Test. They must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. There is no relaxation in minimum T- Score .Also there is no negative marking in this stage. The merit list for SM/TA will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.
Typing Skill Test(TST)
Candidates opted for the post of Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper after qualifying the 2nd Stage CBT will be called for Typing Skill Test. In this stage candidates typing skill is tested.The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility. Candidates with not less than 40% permanent disablity due to Blindness/Low Vision, Cerebral Palsy & Loco Motor Disability will be exempted from this test. However these eligible PwBD candidates have to upload a scanned copy of Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board in the website of respective RRBs before typing skill test is conducted.
Document Verification(DV)
As per merit candidates will be called for document verification based on the performance of candidates in 2nd stage CBT and based on the performance of candidates in both Stage of CBT and CBAT/TST (wherever applicable).The selected candidates must pass Medical Fitness test conducted by railway administration.
Physical Fitness
Candidates called for document verification will have to pass required medical fitness tests conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties required for posts opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. The medical standards are outlined below:
