RRB NTPC Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Graduate & Undergraduate Posts: Age, Qualification, Relaxation

The RRB NTPC Eligibility Criteria 2026 explains the age limit, educational qualifications, and other requirements for candidates applying for Graduate and Undergraduate posts in Indian Railways. Graduate-level posts generally require a bachelor’s degree, while Undergraduate-level posts require a Class 12 qualification, subject to the specific post requirements.

RRB NTPC Eligibility Criteria 2026

1. Posts under each level

RRB NTPC recruitment is split into two levels.

• Graduate level (CEN 06/2026): Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist.
• Undergraduate level (CEN 07/2026): Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist and Trains Clerk.

Graduates can apply for both levels. Class 12 pass candidates can apply only for UG posts.

2. Educational qualification

• Graduate posts: You need a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification.
• UG posts: You need to have passed Class 12 (+2) from a recognised board, or an equivalent.

Your qualification must be complete on or before the last date of application.

3. Minimum marks

• UG posts: You need at least 50% aggregate marks in Class 12. This condition does not apply to:
  • SC/ST candidates
  • PwBD candidates
  • Ex-Servicemen
  • Candidates who hold a qualification higher than Class 12, such as a diploma or degree. So a graduate with 45% in Class 12 can still apply for UG posts.
• Graduate posts: No minimum percentage has been reported. Check the CEN 06/2026 notification to confirm.

4. Final-year students

Candidates waiting for their final exam result cannot apply for either level. Your result must already be declared by the closing date: 13.11.2026 for UG, and the date set in CEN 06/2026 for graduate posts. At document verification, your certificate must show a result date on or before the closing date. If it was issued later, bring your marksheet showing the result date instead.

5. Age limit

• Graduate posts: 18 to 33 years.
• UG posts: 18 to 30 years.

Both age limits are calculated as on 01.01.2027, not on the date you apply. The upper limit is higher for reserved categories, as explained in point 7.

6. Date of birth range

To check your eligibility quickly, see whether your date of birth falls in this range. Both dates are included.

Your date of birth must match your 10th certificate. Requests to change it later are not accepted.

7. Age relaxation

Reserved categories get extra years on the upper age limit:

• If you qualify on more than one ground, you get the highest single relaxation. Relaxations are not added together.
• SC, ST and OBC candidates who apply against unreserved (UR) vacancies get no age relaxation.

8. Nationality

You must be one of the following:

• An Indian citizen
• A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
• A person of Indian origin who migrated from certain countries (Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, some East African countries or Vietnam) to settle permanently in India

Everyone except Indian citizens needs a Certificate of Eligibility from the Government of India, which must be produced at document verification.

9. Medical standard

Each post requires a specific level of medical fitness, mainly based on eyesight.

• If you fail the medical test for the post you chose, you will not be offered a different post. Check your eyesight before you set your post preferences.
• For graduate posts, see Annexure A of CEN 06/2026.

10. LASIK or corrective eye surgery

• A3 posts: Candidates who have had LASIK or any other vision-correcting surgery are not eligible. This means Trains Clerk at UG level. Trains Clerk candidates must sign a declaration at document verification confirming they have not had such surgery.
• B2 and C2 posts: You can be declared fit if all of these conditions are met:
  • The surgery was at least one year ago
  • There are no complications
  • Your residual corneal thickness is at least 425 microns
  • Your eyesight meets the required standard

11. Typing skill test

The Computer Based Typing Skill Test has been removed for the typist posts at both levels in 2026. You no longer need to clear a typing test to be selected.

• However, you are still expected to type well on a computer.
• Your typing will be checked after you join, and poor performance can delay your confirmation or promotion.

12. Pay level

Pay levels set your starting salary under the 7th Pay Commission.

• Graduate posts: Level 5 (₹29,200) or Level 6 (₹35,400).
• UG posts: Level 2 (₹19,900) or Level 3 (₹21,700). Commercial cum Ticket Clerk is the only Level 3 post.

Dearness Allowance, HRA and Transport Allowance are paid on top of basic pay.
