The railway recruitment board (RRB) is conducting the highly anticipated RRB NTPC examination for graduates and undergraduates in Non-Technical popular categories (NTPC). This is a great opportunity for aspirants who are looking for a government job in Indian railway. Recently RRB had revised the vacancies for RRB NTPC exam, with a total of 35,208 vacancies in various zonal railways and production units of Indian railways.

The RRB NTPC is divided into two categories-Graduate Level and Under graduate level posts. Graduate level posts includes Traffic Assistant ,Goods guard, Senior commercial cum Ticket clerk, Senior clerk cum Typist, Junior account assistant cum Typist, Senior Time keeper, Commercial Apprentice, Station Master whereas Undergraduate Posts includes Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial  cum Ticket Clerk. The candidates must prepare very well for RRB NTPC exam as lakhs of candidates are attempting and there is negative marks for each wrong answers. Required Eligibility Criteria for RRB NTPC 2022 Examination

The eligibility criteria set by Railway Recruitment Board for the post of Grade B officer is as mentioned below. Following factors has to be satisfied by the candidates to be eligible to apply for the  post-

Nationality

A candidate must be either-

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal , Bhutan or

(c) a Tibetan refugee who came to India with the intention of permanently settling in India, before 1st January, 1962 or,

(d) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Candidate belonging to categories (b), (c) & (d) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by Government of India.

Age limit

RBI has set minimum age criteria for candidates appearing in RRB NTPC 2020 examination. For Under Graduate Level Posts ( 7th CPC Level-2 and 3), the Date of Birth of candidates should be between the dates given below (both dates included):

 Upon submission of essential certificates following categories/communities is given the relaxation in upper age limit / maximum upper age as tabulated below:

OBC-Non Creamy Layer (NCL) 3 Years
SC/ST 5 Years
 

 

Ex-Servicemen candidates who have put in more than 6 months service after attestation.

UR 30 Years plus number of years of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years.
OBC-NCL 33 Years plus number of years of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years.
SC/ST 35 Years plus number of years of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years.
PwBD UR 10 Years
PwBD OBC-NCL 13  Years
PwBD SC/ST 15 Years
Candidates ordinarly been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989. UR 35 Years
OBC-NCL 38 Years
SC/ST 40 Years
Candidates who are serving Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes and put in minimum 3 years of service (continuous or in broken spells). UR 40 Years of age
OBC-NCL 43 Years of age
SC/ST 45 Years of age
Candidates who are working in Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway organization such as Railway Canteens, Co-operative Societies and Institutes. UR 30 Years plus length of service rendered or 5 years, whichever is lower.
OBC-NCL 33 Years plus length of service rendered or 5 years, whichever is lower.
SC/ST 35 Years plus length of service rendered or 5 years, whichever is lower
Women candidates, who are widowed, divorced or judicially separated from husband but not remarried. UR 35 Years of age
OBC-NCL 38 Years of age
SC/ST 40 Years of age

NB:-

  • Age relaxation will not be allowed for SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non Creamy Layer) candidates applying against unreserved vacancies.
  • PwBD candidates applying against UR vacancies will be allowed age relaxation applicable for UR PwBD only.
  • Candidates should note that the date of birth given in the application form must be same as Date of birth in Matriculation/SSLC/Xth Class or an equivalent certificate. No subsequent request for its change will be considered.

Educational Eligibility

Tabulated below is the required minimum educational qualification by the candidates appearing for RRB NTPC 2022 examination-

Senior Clerk Cum Typist 5 Degree from recognized University or its equivalent. Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on Computer is essential.
Senior Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk 5 Degree from recognized University or its equivalent.
Senior Time Keeper 5 Degree from recognized university or its equivalent and typing proficiency in English /Hindi on Computer is essential.
Traffic Assistant 4 Degree from recognized University or its equivalent
Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk 3 12th or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks is not mandatory in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th standard.
Accounts Clerk Cum Typist 2 12th or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks is not mandatory in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th standard. Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on computer is essential .
Junior Clerk Cum Typist 2 12th or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks is not mandatory in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th standard. Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on computer is essential.
Junior Time Keeper 2 12th or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50%  marks is not mandatory in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th standard Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on Computer is essential.
Trains Clerk 2 12th or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks is not mandatory insisted upon in case of SC / ST / Persons with Benchmark Disability / Ex-servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th standard.

Physical Fitness/Medical Eligibility

Another important Criteria of selection process is medical fitness .Candidates called for document verification will have to pass required medical fitness tests conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties required for posts opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. The medical standards are outlined below:

Medical Standard General  Fitness Visual Acuity
A-2 Physically fit in all respects Distant vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (No fogging Test).

Near vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses and must pass test for colour vision, binocular vision, night vision, myopic vision.

A-3 Physically fit in all respects Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D). Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision.
B-2 Physically fit in all respects Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (Power of lenses not to exceed 4D).  Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Field of Vision(Binocular Vision) etc.
C-2 Physically fit in all respects Distant Vision: 6/12, nil with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn 0.6 combined with or without glasses where reading or close work is required.

Mode of Examination RRB NTPC 2022

There shall be two stage Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Skill Test. Computer based Aptitude Test for Station Master and Traffic Assistant, Typing Skill Test for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper after skill test followed by document verification and medical examination.  For Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, after two stage CBT will have document verification and medical examination.

The Syllabus for prelims and Mains are same except number of questions and marking schemes are different as shown below. The stage 1 CBT exam will be common for all but Stage 2 CBT will be different for each pay band. Tabulated below is the exam pattern-

1st stage Computer Based Test:

NB:Only the candidates who have cleared the stage 1 CBT  exam is qualified to attempt the next Stage 2 CBT exam. There is 1/3rd negative marking for each incorrect answer.
