How the Station Master Cut Off Is Decided
Station Master selection has four stages, and a separate cut off applies at each:
- CBT 1 (screening): 100 questions in 90 minutes — General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, Reasoning 30. Candidates are shortlisted for CBT 2 on normalised marks.
- CBT 2 (main exam): 120 questions in 90 minutes — General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, Reasoning 35. CBT 2 marks shortlist candidates for CBAT.
- CBAT (aptitude test): a minimum of 42 in each test battery is required, with no category relaxation.
- Document verification and medical examination.
The cut off at each stage depends on:
- Vacancies in your RRB: fewer Station Master posts push the cut off up. Bhopal had only 6 posts and the highest UR cut off (88.22).
- Candidates appearing: more applicants per post means stiffer competition.
- Paper difficulty and normalisation: marks are normalised across shifts, so raw scores and cut offs are not directly comparable.
- Category and reservation: each category has its own cut off.
- Post preference: Station Master, as a Level 6 post, usually needs a higher score than Level 5 posts like Goods Train Manager in the same zone.
