Engineering Mathematics: Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Vector Analysis, Complex Analysis, Numerical Methods, Probability, and Statistics.

Network Theory: Network theorems: superposition, Wye‐Delta transformation; Steady state sinusoidal analysis using phasors; Network solution methods: nodal and mesh analysis; Frequency domain analysis of RLC circuits; Solution of network equations using Laplace transform; State equations for networks; Thevenin and Norton’s, maximum power transfer; Linear 2‐port network parameters: driving point and transfer functions; Time-domain analysis of simple linear circuits.

General Aptitude: Numerical Ability, and Verbal Ability.

Communications: Analog communications: angle modulation and demodulation, superheterodyne receivers, amplitude modulation and demodulation, circuits for analog communications, spectra of AM and FM. Fundamentals of Hamming codes, error correction. Random processes: properties of white noise, filtering of random signals through LTI systems, power spectral density, and autocorrelation. Intersymbol interference, frequency, and timing synchronization.

Analog Circuits: Simple diode circuits: rectifiers, clipping, and clamping. Power supplies: regulation and ripple removal. BJT and MOSFET amplifiers: differential, multi-stage, power, operational, and feedback. MOSFET and Single-stage BJT amplifiers: bias stability, biasing, mid-frequency small-signal analysis, frequency response. Sinusoidal oscillators: criterion for oscillation. Voltage reference circuits. Wave-shaping circuits, Function generators, and 555 timers.

Digital Circuits: Semiconductor memories: DRAM ROM, SRAM; 8-bit microprocessor: I/O interfacing, programming, architecture, and memory. Number systems; Combinatorial circuits: Boolean algebra, Boolean identities, and minimization of functions using Karnaugh map. Sequential circuits: Data converters: sample and hold circuits, DACs and ADCs, counters, shift‐registers, latches and flip‐flops, and finite state machines.

System & Signal: LTI systems: causality, definition, and properties, impulse response, convolution, parallel and cascade structure, phase delay, frequency response, group delay, stability, poles and zeros, digital filter design techniques. Continuous-time signals: sampling theorem, Fourier series, and Fourier transform representations, and applications. Discrete-time signals: interpolation of discrete-time signals, discrete-time Fourier transform (DTFT), FFT, Z-transform, and DFT.

Control System: Feedback principle; Basic control system components; Block diagram representation; Signal flow graph; Transfer function; Frequency response; Routh-Hurwitz, Transient and steady-state analysis of LTI systems; Nyquist stability criteria; Lag, lead and lag-lead compensation; Bode and root-locus plots; and solution of state equation of LTI systems, and State variable model.

Electro MagneticsPlane waves and properties: propagation through various media, reflection, and refraction, phase and group velocity, skin depth, polarization. Waveguides: boundary conditions, modes, dispersion relations, cut-off frequencies. Antennas: radiation pattern, antenna arrays, antenna types, return loss, gain, and directivity.

Electronic Devices: Integrated circuit fabrication process: diffusion, twin-tub CMOS process, photolithography, oxidation, ion implantation. Generation and recombination of carriers. Carrier transport: drift current, resistivity, and mobility, diffusion current; Energy bands in intrinsic and extrinsic silicon.
