India has one of the biggest and trained armed forces in the world. Every year Indian Armed Forces conduct joint military exercises with various armed forms from different countries. The joint military exercise with the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force is called Exercise Ekuverin and the 11th edition of this will be conducted from December 6, 2021, to December 19, 2021. The event is to be scheduled to take place on Kadhdhoo Island. Exercise Ekuverin 2021
The joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force is called as Exercise Ekuvarin and this joint military exercise is been conducted between the two countries since 2009. The word Ekuverin in the Maldivian language means ‘Friends’. The aim of the exercise is to enhance synergy and inter-operability between Armed Forces of both nations in terms of understanding transnational terrorism both on land and at sea, conducting Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Operations, and sharing best military practices and experiences. Ekuverin military exercise is conducted every year where the host country is changed alternatively.

The last military exercise edition was conducted in 2019 at Pune in India. Ekaterina is a 14 day-long military exercise and in the year 2021, it is hosted by the Maldives at the Kadhdhoo Island. Through the latest press release Indian Army PRO has also informed that besides rigorous training, the joint military exercise will also include cultural and sports activities to enhance defense cooperation and bilateral relations.
