How to become a DSP in AP Police?: Introduction

The rank of deputy superintendent of police or assistant commissioner of police (ACP) in the commissioner system. It was created in the year 1876. Deputy superintendents are now state police officers who belong to the provincial police forces, either direct entrants at that rank or promoted from an inspector. Upon 8-15 years of service, a Deputy Superintendent of Police can be promoted to an IPS officer. They are also known as circle officers in a district. In order to become a Deputy superintendent of Police in Andhra Pradesh, one has to attempt the State PSC exam know as APPSC Group 1. Andra Pradesh Public Service Commission(APPSC) has invited applications from the eligible graduates to the state’s most prestigious APPSC Group-01 2019 service. 169 vacant positions are reported across the state including both fresh vacancies and carry forward ones.  Interested candidates should submit their applications through APPSC official website.

How to become a DSP in AP Police? Procedure to fill up the form

  • The first time applicants for any notification has to first fill the OTPR
    application carefully to obtain OTPR ID. Click Here For APPSC website
  • The candidates have to login into the Commission’s website with the OTPR and the Password set by them.
  • Click on the “Online Application Submission” present in the bottom right corner of the Commission’s website.
  • Click on the payment link against the Notification Number that he wants to apply.
    After the successful, payment reference ID is generated. The applicant should provide the payment reference Id along with the other personal details to complete their application.
  • Correction in the application form will be enabled for a particular time window.
  • The applicant must pay Rs. 250/ towards application processing fee and Rs 120/-towards examination fee.  Reservation eligible candidates are exempted from the examination fees.

The Eligibility Criteria for a Deputy Superintendent of State Age as on 01/07/2018 is 21-28 years. The name of the post is Deputy Supdt. of Police (Civil) Cat-2 in A.P. Police Service.

A Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University in India established or incorporated by or under Central Act, Provincial Act, a State Act or an institution recognized by the U.G.C. or an equivalent qualification.

How to become a DSP in AP Police: Job Role

  1. A Deputy Superintendent of Police follows all the commands of the Superintendent of Police of the State and works under his supervision.
  2. A Deputy Superintendent looks after the discipline of his fellow mates in the police station and proper decorum is maintained in the police station.
  3. The responsibilities of a Deputy Superintendent also includes to take night patrols in crime-prone areas and ensure everyone’s safety in the state.
  4. In the absence of Superintendent of Police he has to take charge of any high priority case, he has to supervise his juniors and investigate crimes to prevent them from happening again and again.
  5. Taking a surprise roll call during the night shifts is also done by a DSP. It is done to ensure that all the Police officers are doing the duties they are assigned during their designated shifts.
