Other International Awards and Recognitions conferred upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- In October 2018, Modi received UN’s highest environmental award ‘Champions of the Earth’ jointly with Emmanuel Macron, the president of France. The award was conferred for the Policy Leadership, for their pioneering work in championing the International Solar Alliance and promoting new areas of levels of cooperation on environmental action, including Macron’s work on the Global Pact for the Environment and Modi’s unprecedented pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the prestigious Seoul Peace Prize for the year 2018, for his contribution to international cooperation and fostering global economic growth. He is the first Indian to win the award.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan l and “the progress India has made in providing safe sanitation under his leadership. The award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was presented to PM Modi by Bill Gates in New York. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or the Clean India Mission, was one of the first few ambitious projects that PM Modi launched in his first term at the Centre in 2014.
- In the year 2014, 2015 and 2017, he was named one of ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’ by Time magazine. He was also declared winner of the Time magazine reader’s poll for Person of the Year in 2014 and 2016.
- Forbes Magazine ranked him the 15th Most Powerful Person in the World in 2014 and the 9th Most Powerful Person in the World in the year 2015, 2016 and 2018.
- In 2015, Modi was ranked the 13th Most Influential Person in the World by Bloomberg Markets Magazine.
- Modi was ranked fifth on Fortune Magazine’s first annual list of the “World’s Greatest Leaders” in 2015.
- In 2016, a wax statue of Modi was unveiled at Madame Tussaud Wax Museum in London.
- In 2017, Gallup International Association (GIA) conducted a poll and ranked Modi as third top leader of the world.
- On 22nd September, 2019 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Modi was presented with the ‘Key to the City of Houston’ by Mayor Sylvester Turner as a mark of respect to the long-standing ties between India and the city on Sunday
