Kerala PSC Assistant Engineer (AE) Mechanical Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria for the post of AE Mechanical 2026 have been defined in the Kerala PSC notification. Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment

Age Limit:

• Candidates must be aged 21 to 40 years. Only those born between 02.01.1985 and 01.01.2004 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. Usual age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Kerala PSC rules.

Educational Qualifications:

• B.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a UGC/AICTE recognized University, National Institute established by Government of India, or Institution established by Government of Kerala
  OR
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an AICTE recognized institution with 5 years’ experience in construction and maintenance of sea-going or inland vessels

Equivalent and higher qualifications recognized by Government or the Commission are also acceptable as per rules. Candidates claiming experience must upload a valid experience certificate in the prescribed format.

Probation:

• Selected candidates will be on probation for two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.

Tests:

• Candidates must pass the Account Test for Executive Officers of Kerala State during the probation period, if not already passed.

Category No. 541/2025 – Irrigation Department

Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment

Age Limit:

• Candidates should be aged 20 to 40 years and born between 02.01.1985 and 01.01.2005 (both dates inclusive). Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST and OBC candidates as per rules.

Educational Qualifications:
Any one of the following qualifications is acceptable:

• B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering of Kerala University or equivalent
• B.E. Degree in Mechanical Engineering of Madras University or equivalent
• Associate Membership Diploma of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Mechanical Engineering
• Pass in Sections A & B of the Associate Membership Examination of Institution of Engineers (India)
• Any other qualification recognized by Government as equivalent

Candidates claiming equivalent or higher qualifications must produce relevant Government orders or equivalency certificates during verification.

Probation:

• Every appointee shall undergo probation for two years on duty within a continuous period of three years as per rules.

Kerala PSC AE Mechanical 2026 Vacancy Details

For Category No. 539/2025, the Commission has notified one current vacancy. The prepared ranked list will have a validity of one to three years, depending on the publication of a fresh list, and appointments will be made for the notified vacancy as well as any further vacancies arising during this period.

In Category No. 541/2025, vacancies are anticipated. The ranked list will be effective for a minimum of one year and may extend up to three years. During this time, candidates will be advised against vacancies reported by the department.
