Eligibility Criteria of KTET 2025
The minimum eligibility criteria required to sit for the KTET exam for all 4 categories are given below.
Category I (Lower Primary Classes)
- Qualifications:
- At least 45% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 2-year Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) from the Government of Kerala or equivalent.
- OR 45% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category II (Upper Primary Classes)
- Qualifications:
- BA/BSc/BCom AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or TTC.
- OR at least 40% in BA/BSc/BCom AND a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) AND a 4-year BA/BSc Ed or BA Ed or BSc Ed.
- Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category III (High School Classes)
- Qualifications:
- At least 45% marks in BA/BSc/BCom AND a B.Ed in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
- For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, an MSc Ed degree with at least 50% from a Regional Institute of Education is required.
- At least 45% marks in BA (or equivalent) AND pass in LTTC.
- Additional Criteria:
- Candidates with recognized teaching diplomas from NCTE/Universities can apply.
- Marks from main and subsidiary papers will be considered.
- Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category IV (Language and Specialist Teachers)
- Qualifications:
- Must meet the qualifications for Language Teachers (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu) and Physical Education teachers as per Chapter XXXI of the Kerala Education Act and Rules.
KTET 2025 Salary: Pay Scale, Other Perks
Salaries for teaching assistants vary by level—Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School. All positions include House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), and City Compensatory Allowance (CCA). Additional monetary benefits are available for candidates from backward categories, as specified in the official notifications.
