However, India’s Defence Research and Development Organization did not stop there. They also tested their first indigenous aircraft, the Hansa-3, and successfully test fired the Trishul missile on the same day.
On May 11, 1999, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister at the time, declared May 11 to be a day of major achievement for the country, and National Technology Day was marked for the first time.
