Eligibility Criteria for KTET 2024
To sit for the KTET exam in 2024, candidates must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements for each category:
Category I (Lower Primary Classes)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 45% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) along with a 2-year Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) from the Government of Kerala or an equivalent qualification.
- OR 45% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category II (Upper Primary Classes)
Qualifications:
- BA/BSc/BCom and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or TTC.
- OR at least 40% in BA/BSc/BCom and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR 50% marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or equivalent) and a 4-year BA/BSc Ed or BA Ed or BSc Ed.
Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category III (High School Classes)
Qualifications:
- At least 45% marks in BA/BSc/BCom and a B.Ed in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
- For subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, an MSc Ed degree with a minimum of 50% from a Regional Institute of Education is required.
- At least 45% marks in BA (or equivalent) and a pass in LTTC.
Additional Criteria: Candidates with recognized teaching diplomas from NCTE or universities are eligible to apply. Marks from main and subsidiary subjects will be considered.
Relaxation: 5% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates; 3% for OBC and OEC candidates.
Category IV (Language and Specialist Teachers)
Qualifications:
- Candidates must fulfill the qualifications required for Language Teachers (Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu) and Physical Education teachers as outlined in Chapter XXXI of the Kerala Education Act and Rules.
