LIC Assistant Selection Procedure
The Assistant position in Life Insurance Corporation is equivalent to the clerical cadre posts in banking institutions. In 2020 only LIC published the recruitment notification for 8500 vacant positions across India. The official notification for the recruitment of Assistants in the year 2022 is not yet published by the commission. It is expected that the notification will be published very shortly. The LIC Assistant selection procedure includes two stages of a written exam followed by the medical test.
- Preliminary Stage Exam
- Phase-II/ Main Exam
- Pre-medical Test
The candidate should know the Official Language of the State for which he/ she is applying. Selected candidates are required to prove their proficiency in the Official Language of the respective States, before joining.

Local Language Proficiency Test
The local language proficiency of the State/ UT under which the LIC Division for which candidate has applied falls, will be tested by administering a qualifying test of 25 marks. One has to secure a minimum of 10 marks to qualify for the test. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PwBD categories need to secure a minimum of 9 marks to qualify for the test. Even though the marks obtained in this test will not be considered while preparing the rank list, candidates not securing minimum qualifying marks in the test for the local language proficiency would be disqualified.
Candidates who qualify in the main examination and produce their matriculation or HSC (10th or 12th standard) mark sheet/ certificate evidencing having studied the local language of the respective State/ UT under which the LIC Division for which he/ she is applying, falls, will not be required to go for this language test. If a candidate has applied for the LIC Divisions which are under the States/ UTs whose Official State language is Hindi or English, the language test will not be administered.

Preliminary Stage Selection Process
The preliminary round is the first stage of the recruitment of the candidates to the LIC assistant position. Candidates who are applying for the post and paying the application fees can app[ear for the preliminary examination. The preliminary stage of the examination is qualifying in nature and the candidates who obtain a certain cut-off at the preliminary stage will be qualified to attend the mains examination. Mains Exam Selection Procedure
After the preliminary examination, candidates who have a specific cut-off can appear for the mains examination. The mains examination is very important as the marks define the p[position of the candidates on the final rank list. The given below is the exam pattern of the LIC Assistant mains examination.
For the LIC Assistant mains exam, the candidates are divided into two zones, North Central and South Central.

The shortlisted candidates from the LIC Assistant Main exam will have to appear for a medical test. The corporation will only extend the appointment letters to those who have succeeded in the medical test.
LIC Assistant Final Selection
After the mains examination, the recruitment commission conducts a language proficiency test and also a medical test. After the completion of these stages of recruitment, the Commission publishes the LIC Assistant Selection list. This list will contain the names of the candidates who are eligible to take up the job at the Life Insurance Corporation of India.
