About the Role

The ASIC Engineer, Design will be an integral member of an ASIC team working on accelerators for some of Meta’s top workloads. These accelerators are intended to help Meta’s data centers scale efficiently. The role offers the opportunity to work with experts in video transcoding, AI/ML, and other technologies. The engineer will help evaluate algorithms, develop functional and performance models, and contribute to the architecture of advanced hardware accelerator ASICs. The position also involves working alongside expert engineers to build “Green” data center accelerators.

ASIC Engineer, Design Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Participating in micro-architecture, design, and verification reviews and providing feedback.
• Designing and developing RTL or HLS code for some IPs.
• Analyzing designs and improving power, performance, and area (PPA).
• Supporting and developing verification infrastructure.
• Analyzing and improving verification coverage.
• Supporting simulation accelerators and post-silicon validation.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Currently have, or be in the process of obtaining, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Complete the required degree before joining Meta.
• Have exposure to micro-architecture development.
• Have exposure to RTL development using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or HLS.
• Possess knowledge of computer architecture and logic design fundamentals.
• Obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.
• Maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Meta lists the following as preferred qualifications:

• Experience with high-performance computing.
• Experience with lint, clock-domain crossing (CDC), synthesis, and power optimization.
• Currently have, or be in the process of obtaining, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering fields.
• Experience in data path development.
• Experience in HLS.
• Scripting capability with Python or Perl.
