RBI Assistant 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the different types of vacancies presented by any government organisation, the candidates must first go through the eligibility criteria which is selected by the authorities so that the candidates can fill up the application form. The eligibility criteria consist of an age limit and also educational criteria that must be followed by the authorities. Given below we are sharing the details related to the eligibility criteria.
Nationality
A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of
permanently settling in India, or - a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination, but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate is issued to him/her by the Government of India.
Age Limit
- The minimum age limit to apply for the post of RBI Assistant is 20 years
- The maximum age limit is 28 years old.

Educational Qualification
- All the candidates who wish to appear for RBI Assistant Recruitment Exam must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% of marks (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in the aggregate and the knowledge of word processing on PC.
- A candidate belonging to Ex-servicemen category (except dependents of ex-servicemen)
should either be a graduate from a recognized University or should have passed the
matriculation or its equivalent examination of the Armed Forces and rendered at least 15 years
of defence service. - Candidates must have knowledge and proficiency in the official language of the concerned state or union territory by the respective candidates.
RBI Assistant Selection Process 2026
There is a very specific selection procedure that is selected by the authorities of the Reserve Bank of India in order to conduct the entrance examination for the vacancy office assistant.
- The first stage of the selection procedure consists of a preliminary examination which will be conducted after the application forms are scrutinized by the concerned authorities of the Reserve Bank of India.
- The second stage of the selection procedure is the main examination.
- The candidates who will pass the main examination will be promoted to the third stage of the selection procedure which is the interview round.
How to Apply Online For RBI Assistant 2026 Recruitment?
Before applying online, candidates must scan and upload their photograph and signature as per the prescribed specifications.
- The candidates will first have to visit the official website of the organisation.
- To register application, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter Name, Contact details and Email-id. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Candidate should note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password.
- Candidates are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/entertained after clicking the COMPLETE REGISTRATION BUTTON.
- The Name of the candidate or his /her Father/ Husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Photo identity proof / Certificates/ Mark sheets. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the candidature.
- Validate your details and Save your application by clicking the ‘Validate your details’ and ‘Save & Next’ button.
- Proceed to upload Photo & Signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of Photograph and Signature.
- Proceed to fill other details of the Application Form.
- Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the entire application form before COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
- Modify details, if required, and click on ‘COMPLETE REGISTRATION’ ONLY after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature uploaded, and other details filled by you are correct.
- Click on ‘Payment’ Tab and proceed for payment.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Candidates are advised to carefully fill in the online application themselves. No change is permitted after clicking on COMPLETE REGISTRATION Button.

General information when uploading Photograph & Signature
Before applying online, a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications given below.
Photograph Image: (4.5cm × 3.5cm)
- The photo to be uploaded must be a recent passport style colour picture.
- Make sure that the picture is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white background.
- The face and shoulder of the candidate should be clearly visible
- Photo should be of 300 pixels height and 200 pixels width
- The file size should be between 20kb–50 kb and it should be in JPG format
- The background of the photo should be either light-colored or white in color
- The eyes should be open
- Face should be centrally focused
- Photograph wearing cap goggles, (except cap, veil worn in adherence to religious custom), photographs showing a portion of the face, photo with unclear face shall not be accepted.

RBI Assistant Salary 2026
Selected candidates for RBI Assistant will receive a fixed salary along with various allowances and perks. Below are the key details of the RBI Assistant 2026 salary scale.
- Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of ₹20,700/- per month in the scale of ₹20700
– 1200 (3) – 24300 – 1440 (4) – 30060 – 1920 (6) – 41580 – 2080 (2) – 45740 – 2370 (3) – 52850
– 2850 (1) – 55700 and other allowances, as admissible from time to time. - At present, initial Monthly Gross Emoluments (without HRA) for Assistant will be approximately ₹47,849/-.
- House Rent Allowance of 15% of Pay will be paid to them, additionally, if they are not staying in
Bank’s accommodation.

In-Hand Salary of RBI Assistant 2026 – Perks & Allowances
The monthly In-hand Salary of an RBI Assistant is Rs 40,050/- (approx.). The monthly salary will increase after increment which will be held twice or thrice in a year. Moreover, with the promotions held internally, the salary will be increased further.
Apart from the monthly salary offered to an RBI Assistant, the eligible candidate will be entitled to the following allowances:
- Dearness Allowance
- House Rent Allowance (if accommodation is not provided)
- Compensatory Allowance
- Transport Allowance
- House Rent Allowance(HRA) will not be paid to the employee if the Bank’s accommodation is provided and the license fee will be recovered from her/him @ 0.3% of pay at the starting stage of the pay scale of Class III
