SSC CHSL Selection Process 2025
The application window for SSC CHSL recruitment is now open for aspiring candidates to send in the applications. For the latest recruitment, the last date to apply is July 18, 2025. Remember, it is always better to apply soon than keeping it for the last minute once the window is open. Moreover, candidates can avoid the possibility of disconnection/ inability or failure to login to the SSC website on account of heavy load on the website during the closing days.

SSC CHSL Detailed Selection Process
The selection of candidates by SSC CHSL Examination takes place primarily in two distinct stages. These are:

Computer Based Examination – Tier-I
-
Computer Based Examination – Tier-II (Objective + Skill/Typing Test)
Let us have a look at each of these stages in detail:
1. Computer Based Examination – Tier-I

Candidates who have applied before the closing date and whose application is found to be in order are provisionally accepted by the Commission.

These candidates will be assigned Roll numbers and issued Admission Certificate (AC) for appearing in the Tier-I examination.

Admission Certificates for all stages of the examination will be issued online on the websites of concerned Regional/ Sub-Regional Offices.

Candidates should frequently check the SSC website for updates.
2. Computer Based Examination – Tier-II

Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II Examination on the basis of their performance in the Tier-I Examination.

Normalized scores of candidates are used to determine merit and for final selection.

There is a category-wise cut-off for each post: DEO, DEO Grade ‘A’, LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA.
Tier-II consists of two sessions conducted on the same day:
Session-I:

Section-I: Mathematical Abilities & Reasoning and General Intelligence

Section-II: English Language and Comprehension & General Awareness

Section-III: Computer Knowledge Module

Objective type questions, total marks: 405

Negative marking: –1 mark for each wrong answer
Session-II:

Skill Test/ Typing Test is of qualifying nature.

Skill Test is mandatory for DEO posts.

Typing Test is applicable for LDC/JSA/PA/SA posts.

Candidates must score a minimum of 33% in Tier-II (Session-I) to qualify.
Final Selection & Tie-Breaking

Final selection and post allocation will be based on performance in Tier-I + Tier-II, along with the preferences submitted during Document Verification.

Once allotted, post preferences cannot be changed.

Candidates selected will be liable to serve anywhere in India.
In case of a tie, SSC will apply the following methods in order:

Total marks in Tier-II Examination

Date of birth (older candidate ranked higher)

Alphabetical order of candidate’s name
In all cases, the decision of the Commission is final.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2025
Age Limit
The applicants should be between 18-27 years as on 01-01-2026.
Educational Qualification
The candidates should have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. And, for the Data Entry Operator (DEO Grade ‘A’) in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG),12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
