VSSC Selection Process 2025: Step-by-Step

The selection process will comprise two stages:

1. Written Test

This is the first level of screening and is mandatory for all applicants.

Exam Format

• Type: Objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions – MCQs)
• Number of Questions: 80
• Duration: 90 minutes
• Syllabus: Based on the curriculum of the qualifying trade/diploma
• Marking Scheme:
• +1 mark for every correct answer

• • -0.33 mark for each wrong answer (negative marking applies)

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• UR/EWS: Minimum 32 out of 80
• SC/ST/OBC/PwBD (for posts reserved for them): Minimum 24 out of 80

Shortlisting Criteria for Skill Test

Candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage based on written test performance in a ratio of 1:5 (minimum of 10 candidates per post).

2. Skill Test

This is a qualifying round and does not carry weightage in final merit ranking. It tests hands-on proficiency relevant to the job.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• UR/EWS: 50 out of 100

• Reserved Categories: 40 out of 100

Only those who qualify in the skill test will be considered for final selection.

Final Merit List

The final merit will be prepared based solely on the written test marks. Skill test is qualifying only.

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two or more candidates score the same in the written exam, their academic performance in the essential qualification will be used to break the tie.

Certificate & Document Guidelines

NOC for Employed Candidates

• Candidates working in Government, PSU, or Autonomous Bodies must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) during the skill test.
• Those who secure a job after applying must also bring NOC.
• Failure to produce NOC will lead to disqualification.

Reservation & Category Certificate Instructions

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)

• Must submit a valid certificate as per Annexure-I, not older than 09.05.2025
• Should clearly mention non-inclusion in the creamy layer
• Self-declaration (Annexure-II) must also be uploaded

EWS (Economically Weaker Section)

• Must upload valid Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025–26
• Must be in the format of Annexure-III and reflect income of FY 2024–25

SC/ST

• Certificate must be valid as of 16.06.2025 in format of Annexure-IV

PwBD

• Certificate from a competent authority must be uploaded and produced physically at the skill test

Ex-Servicemen

• Valid Discharge Certificate required for availing quota/relaxation

VSSC Eligibility Criteria 2025

To apply for VSSC Technician-B, Draughtsman-B, and other posts, candidates must meet specific educational and age requirements. Generally, applicants should have passed SSLC/SSC (10th) along with ITI/NTC/NAC in the relevant trade. For the Pharmacist-A post, a First Class Diploma in Pharmacy is mandatory.

Important Points to Remember: Examination City Allotment

• VSSC holds the authority to revise or reduce the list of exam cities if required.
• Candidates must select three cities in order of preference while applying.
• Allotment of the examination center will depend on administrative feasibility.
• If none of the preferred cities can be allotted, the candidate will be assigned the next available option.
• If no preferred cities are available, Thiruvananthapuram will be assigned by default.
