RBI (Reserve Bank of India) selects candidates for the post of Assistant and upper-grade officer through competitive examinations. Eligibility Criteria for RBI Assistant post
The RBI Assistant recruitment process for candidates to qualify includes a) Preliminary Examination b) Mains Examination c) Language Proficiency Test. The eligibility criteria for the RBI Assistant post is as follows:
Age Limit
Candidates must be of the age between 20 and 28 years (as of 1/12/2019) for applying for the post of RBI Assistant 2022 examination. Hence, candidates born before December 2, 1991, and after December 1, 1999, will not be able to apply for the exam. Candidates belonging to specific categories will be given upper age relaxation. At the time of the interview, candidates must present their caste certificate for verification.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates applying for the RBI Assistant Exam must possess the below educational qualification (as of 1/12/2019):
i) Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. Pass marks would be sufficient for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category to apply for the exam.
ii) Ex-Servicemen category person with either graduation from any Government recognized University or should be a matriculation pass out or qualify an examination of the Armed Forces and 15 years of defense service rendered.
iii) If a candidate applies from a particular state/region, the candidate must know how to speak, read and write the regional language.
Nationality and Number of Attempts
The number of attempts and Nationality are the two other important criteria. To apply for the RBI Assistant Exam, there is no particular number of attempts and the candidate will have to be an Indian citizen. Candidates meeting the above-mentioned requirements are eligible to apply for the RBI Assistant Examination.
The candidate will be provisionally recruited for the RBI Assistant position once the candidate qualifies for the written examinations, passing the Language Proficiency Test, medical test, and verification of documents.

Age Limit
As per the RBI Grade B official notification, candidates must be of the age between 21 years and 30 years. If the candidate possesses an M.Phil or a Ph.D. qualification will have a different age criterion. The upper age limit for M.Phil qualified candidates is 32 years and for Ph.D. candidates is 34 years. Candidates belonging to different categories will be given upper age relaxation. For the interview, candidates must submit their caste certificate for verification.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates belonging must have a minimum of 60% marks whereas candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category must have a minimum of 50%. The educational criterion for the RBI Grade B post requires candidates to satisfy certain factors such as grade or aggregate percentage scored each year or all semesters during graduation. To apply for specialized fields for the RBI Grade B, candidates must either hold an MBA in Finance or a Post Graduate degree in their respective field.
Nationality and Number of Attempts
The candidate is eligible to apply for the RBI Grade B examination if he/she is a citizen of India.
Candidates belonging to the General category will have 6 attempts whereas candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-serviceman categories will have no restrictions in the number of attempts.
