Time Management is the Key to Success
Time management is the most crucial part when it comes to learning while working. Try to prioritize your work. Avoid late-night parties and try to stay away from social media. Handling a full-time job and your studies at the same time require a good level of planning and prioritization. Make a checklist at the beginning of each day and ensure you are done with it before going to bed.
Let’s categorize our work into 4 sections :
Categorize your work and figure out which is important and which is not. Listing out this will make you cross-check over your routine and thereby eliminating the irrelevant tasks. Many of us multi-task and believe we’re effective when we do so, but evidence suggests that we can’t effectively focus on more than one thing at a time. Now, the more uninterrupted time you get during the day to work on important tasks, the more effective you’ll be. Basically, one of the most essential time management skills is to “not get distracted”. For example, avoid checking emails and answering the phone when you’re in the middle of something important. Once you have broken your flow, it can be difficult to reestablish it. Hence, once you are onto something dedicate your time entirely for that.
Look After Yourself
Maintain a healthy body and mind. A good mind rests only in a healthy body. Ensure that you exercise daily, and make yoga a part of your daily life. A refreshed mind would grasp knowledge with more clarity. Give yourself some time to relax. Listen to your favorite music, take a walk, and keep calm. Do not cut back on sleep. Ensure you get adequate rest and good food.
Key Preparation Strategies in a nutshell
Follow your routine: Try to study at the same time every day, and be sure to pace yourself. Don’t try to cram. For example, studying every day for 4-6 hours will allow for much more long-term retention of content than weekly cram-sessions.
Mix and match: Don’t spend a month only on verbal and then a month on math. Begin with your tough subject, because mastering this would boost up your confidence and never learn continuously till boredom strikes. Ensure you take an adequate break and try changing your topic while resuming.
Break it down: Break down tough questions into individual concepts and figure out where you are going wrong.
Repeat and Revise: Start your revision early each morning. Let your daily study routine begin with revising the last day’s topics. Ensure your brain is not tired and complete today’s topic. Towards night revise today’s topic and do the same next day morning. By doing so, your brain would have grasped a major part of it. Make a note to review the same topic after one week, this time take the least time. By doing so, you can memorize the topic for a longer period.
This graph gives you an explicit idea of how to retain the information in memory. Storing information in long-term memory requires repeated reviews.
To sum up, never believe that it’s difficult to crack the Bank Probationary officer exam while working. Going with the proverb-” If there is a will, there is a way!” find out the most suitable path for you and never give up until you crack it.
