Mrs. Vineetha Harikrishnan, 27, took the PSC exam in 2014. Working out previous year’s question papers does a lot of good and also, attending questions that one is only remotely sure of is a poor strategy as this only fetches you negative marks, she advises.

Mrs. Dhanya, 34, who currently works at the Finance department took the exam in 2013. Mrs.Megha Arun, 30, wrote her exam in 2012 after having lost all hope of getting through with the NET exam. But this setback had helped to strategize the study plan, she says. Six months worth of newspaper and a systematic learning of the typical history and geography helped her get through nicely with the GK section, she retorts.
Tip 3: “ Checking the exam syllabus and pattern and finding the areas that one is very confident in is important. Because, keeping one’s knowledge of these parts intact will help in scoring maximum marks from them.”
Combined efforts to land PSC
Arun Raj, 25, who works at the Secretariat took the exam in 2015. His way of preparation held a high position for the coaching that he attended to crack the exam. This enabled him to connect with like-minded people with whom combined study was a fruitful task, he says. Learning it with a group of people makes the task at hand seem like a manageable one, he believes.
Tip 4: “ Taking the skills in one’s regional language for granted might be a risky move. Hone and polish those skills to the maximum. One other important factor is believing in oneself. It creates a positive stress-free environment.”

Mrs. Santha Kumari, 74, took her PSC exam way back in 1962. After getting selected in the first try and also the first chance, she joined the Revenue Dept. Her strong knowledge of the current affairs, she says, comes from the numerous hours she had spent pouring over the newspapers and books and especially from listening to the radio which helped her a lot for the exam.
