Age Limit:
- 20-36 years
- Individuals born between 02.01.1987 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included)are eligible for this post.
- Usual age relaxation applicable for SC/ST and OBC as per government norms.
Educational Requirements:
- The applicant should hold a Post Graduate Degree in Physics or Chemistry with at-least 50% marks from a recognized University.
- Phil Degree in Physics/Chemistry from a recognised University is preferred but not mandatory.
Visual Requirement
- Aspirants must be certified to have the visual standards specified below with or without glass.
- Both the eye must have a full field of vision.
- Color blindness will be a disqualification.
- During verification, you will need to submit a medical certificate (original) confirming the required vision standards obtained from a doctor with the rank of assistant surgeon or above.

- The selection will be done through direct recruitment.
Training
- Any person hired directly for a Scientific Officer position must undergo training in the specific areas of Forensic Science relevant to the division(s) of the Forensic Science Laboratory where they will be working.
- This training can take place in the Forensic Science Laboratory division they’re assigned to or at institutions like the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science in New Delhi.
- The government, based on the Director General of Police’s advice, will decide the training location.
- This training period will last for at least six months or however long is needed to complete the required courses at the designated institution.
Account Test:
- Those appointed to this job must pass the Account Test for Executive Officers or Account Test (Lower) during their probation.
- If they haven’t passed it yet, they need to do so.
Probation:
- After their training, those appointed will be on probation for two years out of a continuous three-year period.
Bond:
- Upon appointment, individuals must sign a Bond specified by the Government.
- They must commit to serving the State Government for at least 5 years after completing their training.
- If they don’t fulfill this obligation, they’ll owe the Government INR. 25,000 along with the actual training cost assessed by the Accountant General.
