History of National Nutrition Week
As a matter of fact, Nutrition Week was first observed in the United States of America by the American Dietetic Association. The organization which is now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics observed the National Nutrition Week for the first time in 1973. The main purpose of this celebration was to educate the masses about the importance of Nutrition as well as strengthen the role of nutritionists across the globe.
Later, following the lead set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Indian Government dedicated an entire week as National Nutrition Week. This clearly brought major changes in the mindset of people in a country like ours, where poverty and malnutrition are major setbacks.
