South Indian Bank PO: Job Profile

The Probationary Officers are the Junior Scale Management Professionals in the banking service. Every year the bank recruits hundreds of graduates either through open recruitment or by campus placement. Thus selected candidates will be on probation for one year, and the confirmation will be subject to satisfactory performance during the probation period. The candidates should agree to serve the bank for at least 02 years. If the candidates are opting for the open recruitment, they should possess at least 2 Years of service in the officer cadre in any Scheduled Commercial bank, Urban Cooperative Bank or Small Finance Bank or Banking Subsidiary. The Probationary Officer’s can expect his/ her next promotion after three years of continuous working with the South Indian Bank. The next post after the Probationary Officer is the Assistant Manager in Grade-II. While joining the officer’s will be on the pay scale of Rs. 36,000 – 1,490/7, and they will be entitled to one additional increment for Junior Associates of the Indian Institute of Bankers (JAIIB) and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and the performance-linked incentives.

South Indian Bank PO: Roles and Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of South Indian Bank PO are given below. The South Indian Bank PO has to undergo a probation period of 2 years. After the probation period, they are supposed to do all the assigned tasks to them. The list of the assigned task ranges from clerical works to assistant works. The practical knowledge in finance, accounting, marketing, and even billing will be made available to the trainees. The candidates who are selected for the post of PO should practice all these jobs precisely. Their performances will be noted down. The daily customer transaction is a responsibility that the PO ought to fulfill

  • Cash management should be done properly. The draft issuances will directly come under the section of PO to solve
  • The bank business should be increased by the proper interference and presence of mind
  • managing cash flow comes under the role of PO
  • The PO is destined to firmly manage the loans and mortgages
  • Finance should be entirely coordinated and controlled by the PO
  • PO should also work as a public relations officer
  • The PO is supposed to handle customer complaints and issues related to banking on time

South Indian Bank PO: Career Growth

The probationary officer post is the entry-level junior management position, and after the 2 years, probation period or training and the officer gets the post of Assistant Manager. The job profile of a Probationary Officer in South Indian Bank is very much similar to that of their counterparts in the nationalized banks.  A typical day in a Probationary Officer’s life has both administrative as well as clerical works including customer handling, and sales meetings. So, the Probationary Officer’s are expected to possess excellent communication skills and conflict resolving skills. The Probationary Officers managerial tasks include the supervision of various clerical works, decisions making for the bank benefits, managing cash balance, canvassing new clients, etc. After the probation period, officer’s can choose the banking section where he/ she like to work based on their previous experience or their interest. Some of the available specializations are:

  • Branch Operations
  • Liability Sales
  • Risk management
  • Collection and Recovery
  • Credit Retail and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Underwriting
  • MSME Relationship/ Sales Manager
  • Forex
  • Wealth Management, Demat Trading
  • Gold Loan Business
  • Credit Mid Office Functions, etc.

Other than this a South Indian Bank PO’s career journey do have various planning, budgeting, marketing, loan processing, loan approval, investment or wealth management etc. One of the other responsibilities of the Probationary Officers is to work as public relations officer. They need to handle customer complaints and address various customer related issues such as discrepancies in accounts, the rectification of undue charges and looking into complaints regarding services provided by the bank.

South Indian Bank PO: Salary

The salary structure of the South Indian Bank PO allures many of the candidates to the post. After the probation period, there will be a steady hike in the salary. The salary of the probationary Officer is Rs. 36,000 – 1,490/7 – 46,430 – 1,740/2 – 49,910 – 1,990/7 – 63,840. According to the experience and eligibility, the salary scale will be tremendously increased.

South Indian Bank PO: Allowances

Along with the basic salary, candidates can enjoy other allowances and benefits. The South Indian Bank PO will be provided with the allowances such as Special allowance, City competitive allowance, Dearness Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, and House Rent Allowance.

South Indian Bank PO: Exam Details

The South Indian Bank PO exam will be conducted to select the most eligible and qualified candidates for the post of Probationary Officers. The roles and responsibilities of the probationary officer are given above. The South Indian Bank will conduct the online test as the preliminary stage of the selection. The candidates who are selected after the online test will be called for a personal interview and group discussion. Only those candidates who can successfully crack all the stages of the selection will be selected as the probationary officer. The notification was released on 5th January 2022. The candidates can start submitting the application form from 5th to 11th January 2022. The exams will be conducted in various centers across India.
