Quantitative Aptitude Preparation Strategy
Quantitative aptitude tests the candidate’s ability to carry out numerical with accuracy and speed. In order to do that, one must practice regularly. Here is some of the points to remember regarding this section of the exam.
Number of questions = 35 questions
Maximum time allotted = 20 minutes
Mark for each right answer = 1 mark
Penalty mark for each wrong answer = -0.25 marks

1. Simplification/ Approximation
These questions require the candidate to find solution for a complex calculation. It checks the ability of a student to deal with numbers. Questions of two different kinds are asked from this topic.
- Calculation is given and one of the numbers is missing from the calculation.
- Numbers are given with some operations between them and we have to simplify the calculation.

2. Number series
In these questions, we have numbers which are written in a sequence thereby, making a number series. In order to answer such questions, we need to figure out the pattern that the number series follows. By applying this pattern to its predecessor, the missing value can be found. 3. Quadratic equations
In these questions, there will be two quadratic equation, one which contains a variable x and another containing variable y. The value of x and y needs to be found out by solving the quadratic equations which is to be done individually.

4. Data interpretation
This is a time-consuming part in the quantitative aptitude section. The aim of these questions is to check the ability of the candidate to observe and calculate at the same time. The method to approach these questions is to first understand the small specifications and then look at the type of questions asked. Normally, these questions are given in the form of a pie chart, bar chart, line chart of tabular form.

These questions are about finding the work done by a person or group of people or to find the time taken by these people to complete a work.

b) Time and distance
Questions on time and distance requires the candidate to find the time taken by an object to cover a distance while moving at a particular speed. Another type of question is to find the distance covered by an object in a given period of time while moving at a said speed. Third type of problem will be to find the speed of the object while covering a distance by taking a known amount of time. Keep in mind the formula, Speed = Distance/Time.

c) Simple and compound interest
This is a frequently asked topic in mist of the exams. These questions are meant to find out the simple interest and compound interest under various rate of interest, amount and time.

d) Profit and loss

e) Ratio and proportion
The questions on ratio and proportion could be problems on age, partnership or mixture and alligation. The problems on age are those in which the age of two people (mostly between father and son) will have to determined depending upon the given ratio or other details. Partnership problems are those in which the share of a particular partner needs to be figured out or the ratio of the shares between the partners. Mixture and allegation problems are those in which the ratio in which two or more ingredients of different prices are mixed to produce a mixture of desired price.
