About the Internship

As a Data Engineer Intern, you will work on designing, implementing, and supporting analytical data platform solutions that drive business insights and decisions. You’ll collaborate with business analysts, managers, software development engineers, and data engineers to design and support solutions in a fast-paced, agile, customer-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support analytical data platform solutions for data-driven decisions and insights.
• Design data schemas and operate internal data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL database systems.
• Work on data model designs, architecture, implementation, discussions, and optimizations.
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from diverse sources using AWS big data technologies like EMR, RedShift, and Elastic Search.
• Work with AWS technologies such as S3, RedShift, Lambda, and Glue, and explore the latest AWS capabilities.
• Work on data lake platforms and components like Hadoop and Amazon S3.
• Use SQL technologies on Hadoop such as Spark, Hive, and Impala.
• Improve ongoing analysis processes and optimize self-service support for customers.
• Own development and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
• Apply best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor’s degree.
• Final year of Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in SQL.
• Hands-on experience in languages like Python.
• Knowledge of RDBMS, Big Data, NoSQL, ETL, and Data Warehousing concepts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AWS technologies like Amazon S3, EMR, Amazon RDS, and Amazon Redshift.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or equivalent.
• Knowledge of reporting/visualization tools used in the industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve ambiguous requirements.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.

Internship Commitment and Locations

• Amazon internships require a full-time commitment for the entire duration.
• Interns should not have conflicts such as academic projects, classes, or other internships/employment during the internship.
• Exam-related details must be shared with the hiring manager to plan for absence.
• Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by the hiring/reporting manager at the start of the internship.
