Age Limit & Relaxations: SEBI Grade A Exam Eligibility
The age limit is one of the most important factors when it comes to being eligible for any exam and the case for SEBI Grade A being no different.
For candidates applying for SEBI Grade A General Stream, the maximum age limit is 30 years as of 31st March 2024 i.e., you must have been born on or after 01st April 1994.
For candidates of other categories, there are several age relaxations as provided in the table below:

SEBI Grade A Eligibility 2024: Educational Qualification

Important points to be noted about the educational qualification:
- A PG Diploma in any field will be accepted as an educational requirement for General stream and a Post Graduate Diploma in Statistics / Economics/ Business Administration (Finance)/ Commerce / Econometrics will be acceptable as educational requirement for Research Stream, provided the same is acknowledged as equivalent to a Master’ Degree in that discipline by Govt. of India. The duty to provide the necessary document in this regard shall be on the candidates.
- Applicants are allowed to apply for a maximum of two disciplines only for which he/she is eligible to apply, as per their educational qualifications. Independent online application for each stream will have to be submitted and requisite fees is to be paid for all In case an applicant applies more than once in a Single
Stream and/ or applies for more than 2 Streams, only the newest applications shall be considered valid and the other applications will be rejected. The officers enlisted in any discipline may be posted to any department of SEBI, irrespective of their fields. - Applicants who have appeared for the final examinations and are holding on for the results are eligible to appear for the selection process. However, the proposal to join SEBI to the selected competitors shall be subject to the production of necessary documents confirming successfully obtaining the required
- The passing date of the eligibility examination will be the same as the date of appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/ Institute. If the result of a particular exam is posted on the official website of the University/ Institute, a document issued by the appropriate authority of the University/ Institute indicating the date on which the result was displayed on the website will be taken as the date of passing.

SEBI Grade A Eligibility 2024: Exam Pattern
Exams for the selection of SEBI Grade A consists of 3 phases:
- Phase 1 (Preliminary Examination)
- Phase 2 -(Main Examination)
- Phase 3 ( Interview)

i.There shall be negative marking (1/4th of marks assigned to the question) for the Paper 1 and Paper 2 in Phase 1.
ii. There shall be a cut-off of a minimum of 30% for Paper 1 (no sectional cut-off shall be there) and a cut-off of a minimum 40% for Paper 2 in Phase 1.
iii. Candidates would need to secure independent cut-off in all the papers as mentioned in the second point above as well as aggregate cut-off marks of 40% in Phase I exam to be shortlisted for Phase II. Marks obtained in Phase I shall be used only for filtering the candidates for the Phase II examination process and will not be counted for the final selection of the candidates.
iv. Subject to the criteria mentioned as the third point above, all the candidates who clear Phase I will be shortlisted for Phase II. Shortlisted candidates for Phase II will be displayed on the SEBI website.

i. Candidates selected for Phase II will be issued new admit cards.
ii. For pupils who have applied in more than one stream, Second Phase will be conducted in various shifts, the timings of which will be intimated in the admit card.
iii. There shall be negative marking assigned to the question for Paper 2 in Phase II (except IT stream for which details shall be informed in due course).
iv. A cut-off of a minimum of 30% for Paper-1 in Phase I and a cut-off of a minimum 40% for Paper-2 in Phase II will be applied.
v Candidates would need to secure independent cut-off in both the papers as mentioned at (iv) above as well as total cut-off marks of 40% in Phase II exam (weightage of 1/3rd for Paper 1 and 2/3rd for Paper 2) to be short-listed for Phase III.
vi. Dependent to the criteria mentioned at (v) above, candidates adding up to 3 times the number of vacancies shall be shortlisted, in order of merit, for Phase III or the Interview. A list of candidates shortlisted for the Interview will be made announced on the SEBI website.
Interview
Only the shortlisted candidates will get the interview call. The application fee shall not be refunded to the aspirants who did not pass the Phase II exam. Candidate may choose to give interviews either in Hindi or English. The second Phase’s weightage will be 85%, while the third Phase shall be given a weightage of 15%.
