SSC MTS Selection Process

SSC MTS Exam 2019 pattern consists of objective, descriptive sessions, to test the skills of the candidate. The two-tier exam consists of Paper- I and Paper-II.

Paper- I consist of 100 objective questions from General English.General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General Awareness. 25 marks will be there from each section. General Awareness questions are reduced to 25, which is slightly relaxing for at least some of the candidates. Previous year there were 50 questions each from general awareness and general English sections. Duration of the exam is 90 Minutes (120 Minutes for candidates eligible for scribes).

The questions will be set both in English &  Hindi for all other sections other than General English. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer and 1 mark for every correct answer. Marks obtained after normalization determines the final cut off and merit.

Paper-II is a descriptive section within  30 minutes (40 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribes) and maximum marks of 50. The candidate will be required to write a Short Essay/Letter in English or in any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. The descriptive paper will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills given categorization of the post as Group-C and given job requirements.

Mode of Final Selection

In SSC MTS Exam 2019, those candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories will only be able to attend Paper II, the descriptive section. After qualifying Paper-II candidate has only one more hurdle towards the stable, secure government job that is Document Verification. Based on the performance in Paper-I and scoring the cut-off marks in Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted. At the time of document verification eligible candidates should carry following original documents:

  • Two recent passport-sized color photos.
  • Photo ID proof – Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, Government School/ College ID Card, Employer ID (Govt./ PSU).
  • Copies of various documents like Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate, Educational Qualification Certificate, Order/ letter in respect of equivalent Educational

For the final selection, those candidates whose documents are in order will only be considered. Also, the age-group of the candidate, the preference of States/ UTs given by them and the performance of the candidates in Paper-I determines the final selection and allocation to various states/UTs. So while filling application form be vigilant enough. If the candidate is willing to work in any states can have more opportunity, else it will be against vacancies in the concerned state.

Also, as the vacancies for MTS are in two age groups i.e. (i) 18 to 25 years and (ii) 18 to 27 years. So in the final result, there will be separate age group-wise, State/ UT-wise, and category-wise cut-offs. For the candidates who are eligible for both the age-groups, vacancies will first be filled in the age-group of 18-25 years. So start preparations soon. Practice regular mock exams, read the newspaper so can improve your general knowledge and vocabulary. Wishing a peaceful study time.
