TNPSC Group 2 Application 2026: Documents and Details to Keep Ready Before Applying
Applying in one sitting is much easier if you keep these ready beforehand:
- SSLC (10th Standard) Mark Sheet – Keep your Register Number and Certificate Number ready.
- Recent Passport-Size Colour Photograph – Taken on or after 11 August 2026, studio-clicked with a plain white background, sized 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, with your name and date of photography printed at the bottom. Save it as a 20 KB–50 KB JPG file.
- Signature – Sign in blue or black ink within a 6 cm × 2 cm box on white paper. Scan and save it as a 10 KB–20 KB JPG file.
- Active Personal Email ID and Mobile Number – Use valid contact details that are not shared with anyone else.
- Aadhaar Number – Required for linking with One Time Registration (OTR).
- Educational Qualification Certificates/Mark Sheets – Keep them ready for entering and verifying qualification details.
- Category Certificate Details – Keep relevant Community, PwBD, Ex-Serviceman or Destitute Widow certificate details ready, if applicable.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Apply for TNPSC Group 2 Online 2026
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal
Go to www.tnpscexams.in. Do not use any third-party or unofficial link to apply — TNPSC applications are accepted only through this portal.
Step 2: Complete One Time Registration (OTR)
If you have never registered with TNPSC before, click on One Time Registration and pay the OTR fee of Rs. 150. This registration is valid for 5 years and is not an application for any specific post — it’s just your candidate profile. You will need to enter your SSLC Register Number, Certificate Number, month and year of passing, medium of instruction, and the name of your board exactly as they appear on your mark sheet. Enter these carefully, since incorrect SSLC details can lead to rejection of your application later.
Step 3: Log In With Your User ID and Password
If you already have an OTR account, simply log in with your existing User ID and Password. If you’ve forgotten your credentials, use the “Forgot Password” or “Forgot User ID” options — TNPSC will not share your login details with you directly.
Step 4: Click “Apply” Against the CCSE-II Notification
On your dashboard, locate the Combined Civil Services Examination – II (Group II and IIA Services) notification and click Apply.
Step 5: Verify and Confirm Your OTR Details
Your One Time Registration details, including your photograph, will auto-populate. Check everything carefully. If anything is incorrect, use the OTR Edit option to fix it before proceeding — changes made after final submission will not reflect in an already-submitted application.
Step 6: Fill in the Application Form
Complete the recruitment-specific sections: personal details, category (SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC-DC/BC/BCM/Others), educational qualification, post preferences, and PWBD/Ex-Serviceman/Destitute Widow claims if applicable. Click “Save and Proceed” at the end of each section.
Step 7: Upload Photograph and Signature
Upload your photograph and signature exactly as per the specified format. Selfies, cropped social media photos, or old photographs will lead to rejection — the photo must be studio-taken, in colour, against a white background, taken on or after the notification date.
Step 8: Choose Your Examination Centres
You can select two preferred examination centres for the Preliminary Examination. Candidates with benchmark disabilities can select only one centre. Choose carefully, as centre change requests are not entertained after submission.
Step 9: Preview Your Application
Before final submission, use the Preview option to check every field. An SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number when the preview is generated. This is your last chance to catch errors — TNPSC holds candidates solely responsible for mistakes in the submitted application.
Step 10: Pay the Application Fee
Pay online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. The Preliminary exam fee is Rs. 100 (in addition to the one-time Rs. 150 OTR fee, if you’re a new registrant). Do not press the Back or Refresh button during payment — wait for confirmation to avoid payment failure or double debit. Candidates from SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BC(M), Persons with Benchmark Disability, Ex-Servicemen, and Destitute Widow categories may be eligible for full or partial fee exemption based on their free chances already availed.
Step 11: Submit and Save Your Application Number
Once payment is successful, an Application Number/Applicant ID is generated. Note this down carefully — you’ll need it for all future correspondence with TNPSC. Remember: simply previewing your application does not count as “having applied.” You must click the final Submit button.
Step 12: Download and Keep a Printout
Although TNPSC does not require you to post the printout, keep a saved copy or printout of your submitted application for your own records.
TNPSC Group 2 Apply Online 2026: Fee Structure
- One Time Registration (OTR) Fee (new candidates only): Rs. 150
- Preliminary Examination Fee: Rs. 100
- Main Examination Fee (payable later, only if shortlisted): Rs. 150 for one service, Rs. 300 if appearing for both Group II and Group IIA Main exams
- Fee Exemption: Full exemption for SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC, BC(M), Persons with Benchmark Disability, and Destitute Widow candidates (subject to free chances already used); Ex-Servicemen get two free chances
TNPSC Grouo 2 Application Correction Window 2026
After the last date for submission, TNPSC opens a correction window from 13 September 2026 (12:01 AM) to 15 September 2026 (11:59 PM). During this period, you can edit details in your already-submitted application. No modifications are allowed once this window closes, so double-check everything during the correction phase too.
Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying Online for TNPSC Group 2 Recruitment 2026
- Do not wait until the last date — heavy website traffic close to 9 September 2026 can cause submission failures
- Do not upload selfies, filtered photos, or photos with a non-white background
- Do not enter SSLC details from a memory — refer to your actual mark sheet
- Do not select the wrong fee concession option — this choice cannot be edited after final submission
- Do not assume “Preview” means you’ve applied — you must click Submit
- Do not use unofficial websites or apps claiming to offer a “TNPSC Group 2 apply online link” — always use www.tnpscexams.in directly
