- India celebrates Sarojini Naidu’s birthday as National Women’s Day every year on February 13.
- World Wetlands Day is celebrated internationally each year on 2 February. It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971.
- According to the RAMSAR organization, “Wetlands are land areas that are saturated or flooded with water either permanently or seasonally. Inland wetlands include marshes, ponds, lakes, fens, rivers, floodplains, and swamps. Coastal wetlands include saltwater marshes, estuaries, mangroves, lagoons and even coral reefs. Fishponds, rice paddies, and saltpans are human-made wetlands.”
- Taj Mahotsav is an annual 10-day event in Agra. This festival invokes the memories of the old Mughal era and Nawabi style prevalent in Uttar Pradesh in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Other than the above-said events, we do observe the “Safer Internet Day” on the second day of the second week of February. Every year February 10 and August 10 is observed as the National Deworming Day (NDD). The day aims at eradicating intestinal worms also known as Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH), among children in the age group of 1-19 years.
